First thank you very much for this write up (what is an appropriate FTC tip amount)
Second I am having a small issue (Linux Ubuntu)
Everything went very smooth except for the following:
zlib1g-dev This is a number 1 in front of the g? Or lowercase L? I can’t find this package
And Theese are my errors
Checking for gawk… No
Checking wether to enable maintainer-specific portions of makefiles…no
Checking wether the C compiler works…no
Configure error: in ‘/usr/local/cpuminer’:
Configure: error: c compiler cannot create executables
UPDATE: working and hashing Yay!!!
Fix: do the following
You should be OK for compiling then.
This would be a great idea for making a Feathercoin Savings account for the long term investment. As a Miner I usually sell half of what I mine and keep the other half. Storing them on paper and in plastic sleeves in a binder would be awesome.

That’s very cool, good job. I could never get mine to work on my mac, which is a shame.
[/quote]Yeah, apparently the Xcode tools I need to make cgminer work in Mac requires more RAM than I have and an upgrade to 10.7/10.8 – no thanks. This old Mac Pro is doing just fine in 10.6 and everyone is telling me to not upgrade.

Maybe just add information that user doesn’t have to worry about the wallet. Or does he in some cases? Nah, he doesn’t. Doesn’t he? ::). I know that first time I updated FTC client I was worried what will happen to my coins…backuped wallet.dat on x locations, just in case - but there was no need
I am not 100% sure, but let’s say something goes wrong and the wallet.dat will be overwritten or something. Better safe then sorry! hehe

Recommend addition of [Info] to the thread title to avoid post seeming like a question that is waiting for an answer.
Only saw this now and i agree, i changed it!

Yes that is enough, you don’t need to backup on balance change, only when you add another wallet address your wallet.dat changes.
Ahhh, thanks for the distinction that the file changes when you add a new wallet address. That makes perfect sennse.
