Isn’t NTP based on what I guess is considered the source of all network time? Would it be able to get its time from that?

From what I can gather, it is easy to set time wherever you want to, ie: In the future or past etc.
I know many years ago those 30 day software trials used to last forever :D

How will this fork work? Will we still have to reach the current retarget, or will it be split?
I am asking because expected block and retarget times are growing and growing :-\

Ah…the good ole days of internet!

When my eMachines Desktop w/ Celeron 333Mhz CPU, 128Mb of RAM and an 80Gb HDD was plenty enough for the entire family! Difficult to imagine now.

I still have a *working* laptop that has a 4GB HDD, 32 MB of ram (I think, maybe less), and not even sure what CPU it has. It’s from when laptops were still the new thing.

Also @Bushstar, don’t forget to take the decline of hashrate into consideration when estimating how many blocks will be generated in the next week.

                        Hi Bushstar,

I did put all my rigs to mine feathercoins in the meantime. (4,400 Kh/s).
Anything we can do to help?
                        I am a dev.

serraz is updating his. serraz kicks ass.

so that’s at least about 10% converted over guaranteed.

“At block 33,000 the difficulty will be adjusted by 41.4% to help speed up transactions.”

So if I calculated correctly it means next difficulty will be little over 110, right?

If I put that into the calculator I see I won’t be making a lot more than I am mining now. I hope the FTC value will go up after the fork.

It will update faster which means it will drop again afterwards.

                                      Remember the target is still 2.5 minutes. And at 110 it’s still going to be slower than that. 25 days became 7ish. But it’s not a full drop, so 110 under the old version 25 days / 1.4 = 20 days - 7 * 1.4 (less diff more blocks), so 10 days, but those 10 are now 10 / 4 = 2.5 days. Even then it will still be too high so yet another drop will occur (110 / 1.4 = 70). 10 / 1.4 = 5 days - 2.5 * 1.4 = 1.5 more days after that.

So in short: Still about a week and a half before it settles. Then we rock the house.

From the 6.5m already mined coins, I wonder who has 1 million? At the current rate that’s 1200 BTC or $130k

I wonder if anyone does actually have 1 million coins. I doubt it but perhaps someone could consult the block chain. Any which way there may be 6 million coins out there but there are 330 million still to go.
