Marketplace Features Requests

  • | Tip mnstrcck

    Hey ho,

I’ve run into a few issues when attempting to list snacks on the marketplace. Wondering if these suggestions are easily implemented, and I had some ideas for other features which might be beneficial. Here they are:

    1. Multiple Shipping Options

Right now, I am unable to list multiple shipping options under a single posting, which leaves me with the only option of putting up multiple listings that cover multiple shipping prices included. Would it be possible to maybe have the ability to [once the International Shipping checkmark is clicked] create shipping options based on location? For myself, I would have Domestic Shipping, US Shipping, International Shipping by Zone etc.

Another solution would be to offer the ability for an “invoice” to be created and sent to buyer with final total. I could communicate all shipping options within the posting to make sure there is no confusion later on.

Additionally, shipping costs will change depending on the number of items. So that is also something worth looking into implementing.

    2. Buy Now Option Duration Extension and Quantity

For sellers with multiple items, it’d be nice to be able to put in quantity available and also, offer an extended duration for a buy now only posting. This would greatly improve usability, save time and give sellers a flexible method of listing certain products. I can also see this being implemented in a storefront option that can be later used on seller websites, utilizing the Feathercoin escrow service and cross-posting.

    3. Seller Listing Templates/Save Feature

Not sure how feasible it is, but I can also see the ability to save listings [photo, information, fees] for future re-listing on the seller account as an amazingly awesome feature. It would extend on top of the above suggestion.

    Thoughts? Comments?

    Here he is 😉

For buyers an option to narrow the search by country, or a display filter/sort option by country.

Often it doesn’t make much sense to get goods sent from the other end of the world, and problems with local customs may occur, too.

    1. More shipping options

Agreed. This needs to be more dynamic to suit users.

    2. Buy Now extension

I can enable and test the relist function on the market. So at the end of the auction if there are more items left the auction will automatically relist. This will have to be coded to handle the Buy Now system as WeBid seems to be designed for Duth auctions and the Buy Now is broken in the vanilla package.

    3. Template

Kind of. There is the ability to manually relist something when the auction if over and you can select sell similar after editing the auction. However this is not what you are looking for.

I imagine this working as follows. You go to sell and item, after putting in all the info you have the option to list the item or add to templates. On selecting add to template it gets added to a template list available under your selling tab. Open up the template list, select the one you want, edit and list.

Does that sound like what you are looking for?

    4. Country specific searches

Sounds reasonable and makes sense 🙂

I will pin these items to look at after the API refresh.

Yes, similar to how “Save as Draft” works in Wordpress, except you can use that first draft to make the same post multiple times if need be.

Awesome Pete. Thanks for hearing me out.

    EDITED TO ADD:

It would also be both amazingly awesome and overall beneficial to maybe include a “Recently Finished Auctions” panel [with maybe last 4 to match Hot Items above]. Shows traffic and functions as a Proof of Work, so to speak.

Hey guys. I have hundreds of items I want to list on here. The main problem I came across is I can only list buy it now items for 7 days max. This was mentioned by someone else on here as well. This is quite an oversight, and I believe it will put a lot of people off from currently listing. People want to be able to list and let it run. So if you could please create some kind of “Good Till Cancelled” option that would be great:) I think for the most part the ebay selling format is pretty flawless, so can largely be imitated. Its tried and tested, so we shouldn’t have to strain our brains too much to think what the marketplace needs.

I am really keen to get this marketplace booming, and will be listing hundreds of electronic project items when this is
implemented. Keep up the great work guys, and lets make this marketplace really work!!

Okay. I will add some longer auction times. 10, 15 and 30 days and will look to enable auto relist. Auctions will still expire naturally but could last for a long time. This saves from having to hit the relist button at least once a week. With 30 days and auto relist of 3 would see an auction last 90 days.

My only concern is how the price might have changed in the mean time.

People are generally thinking in fiat when listing. I plan add a feature to allow people to pin to the price of fiat be it Euro, GBP, AUD, NZD or USD. Then you can list an item for $5 and leave it for 90 days waiting on that auction sold email without worrying about the price of FTC.

    That would be great Bush!!
FTC price changes are what all sellers are worried about…

  • | Tip silversurfer

Thanks Bush that would be great! The Bitmit format has the following options for buy it now listings:

    1 Days 100 days
    3 Days Endless
    7 Days Choose Date
    20 Days
    30 Days

I guess auto-relist could also be tied to the number of items in stock, stock runs out listing ends?

This kind of endless listing really is key to the marketplace I think. I want to list over 200 hundred
items and always keep them up, just like a shop. Imagine how many items could be listed at once
on this site if shop style sellers were encouraged to move over here. It could literally be the difference
between there isn’t much going on over here, to bloody hell you can get tons of stuff here:) I think this
marketplace is the future of feathercoin!

People are certainly thinking in Fiat!
That would be brilliant if you could give the option of pining fiat price, so it automatically adjusts.
As you are most likely aware this has been done within Bitmit. I have no idea how difficult this is
to implement, but obviously the more currency options the more user friendly and widely adopted
the feathercoin marketplace would become. Bitmit pins fiat currency’s in 12 options.

    Thanks for your time

I think if you added the pin to Sterling I would start adding stuff from sweetems.co.uk straight away. (Is there a way to limit buyers by country Maybe by postage options as we can only send perfume to UK?)

There is an option ‘international shipping: yes/no’ already 😉

  • | Tip kris_davison

    Ah great thanks 🙂

  • | Tip kris_davison

Hi could I request a new category for Perfume / Aftershave or health and beauty something like that as I cant figure out which one to put perfumes in.

    cheers Kris

  • | Tip Bushstar

I have added the category Health & Beauty. This makes a good top tier category 🙂

The auction length of 10, 14 and 28 has now been added.

Coming up next is the relist option, pin to fiat, multiple shipping options and create auction templates. I think that most of these are required in a market site of this sort.

  • | Tip kris_davison

Thanks very much I’ll see if I can get something on today. 🙂

  • | Tip kris_davison

Hi I have put an item on the market. I have put the buy it now price as 600FTC and shipping as 100FTC does this mean it really costs 700FTC (which is what I was wanting) or have I made a mistake and full price is 600FTC (500FTC price and 100FTC shipping)

silly question but I want to make sure I have done it properly.

  • | Tip Bushstar

The item will come to 700FTC total when purchased so all is well 🙂

  • | Tip kris_davison

    Smashing thanks bushstar.
