I had another thought. If you, Kevlar, or anyone else were to set up a p2pool for FTC with a 1% pool fee that went directly toward funding this protocol, I would use it and encourage others to do the same. It could be a good way to get steady support for the project. Also, I will donate 1 FTC for any T shirt I sell on the marketplace. It’s not much, but it’s a start.
That’s a very interesting idea! I’m not much for running pools, but maybe some enterprising individual could help out?

  • Spammer Banned | Tip Kevlar

OMG thank you all SO much for your incredibly generous donations! I’ll be posting throughout the day with my progress after I get in a little SimCity (which I won on the forums last night!!! SO EXCITED!!!)

  • | Tip Tuck Fheman

Kevlar, if you have a HoboNickel address I will donate a days mining for this project.

Do you want me to do a Link on the HBN network as well at some point in my testing? I can. Wouldn’t be hard.

  • Regular Member | Tip Vidicus

To make good on my matching 100FTC, I just sent 50 more FTC to your donation address! After you get a working client ill send 50 more 😃

    You guys are awesome.

I’m encoding the magnet link Tuck suggested now (by hand). I hope to have it embedded in the blockchain sometime this evening, after which time I’ll demonstrate that it can be retrieved.

Once that’s done, it’ll be time to start writing some code! Should I do reading or publishing first?

  • | Tip kornacki

I think reading would be a good idea to do first so people can see how it works with the magnet link that you are embedding into the blockchain.

Not necessary. I just have more HBN than anything else right now.

sent 7 ftc, will send some more when can mine some to show my appreciation.

    Major progress tonight.

I wrote a NodeJS program to actually generate addresses. It works. WOOOOOOOT!!!

    Details are here: http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,5558.new.html#new

Next up is to change the version number to FTC, and do a send! I’ll keep you posted.

So the first test is over, and while it wasn’t perfect, it was absolutely successful.

    Here’s the transaciton: http://ftc.cryptocoinexplorer.com/tx/cc66ef78c1bcfbaf2a691b3dda77847bc80350ad262f17af38f7950879ecaef2#o2

You can see the change address got stuck in the middle of the sequence, ruining the sequence. 😞 Stupid QT client putting change addresses wherever it wants…

Anyway, some great datapoints came of this.

    First of all, the data:
URL: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:fbab636f9c91fb58038055dfce83cd8099a
    7366e&dn=TPB+AFK%3A+The+Pirate+Bay+Away+from+Keyboard+%282013%29+720p+h264+581m
Name: TPB AFK: The Pirate Bay Away from Keyboard (2013) 720p h264 581
    Keywords: TPB AFK,The Pirate Bay,Away From Keyboard,Simon Klose,Documentary,720p
That encoded to the following sequence of FTC addresses:
6khUSbZaZyRXA4Lg5GUpFFaaJXV6vHkTN8
    6onH4FjBPBLAMXZqyKQY42zsnBnckNqN8T

    6ocoGyQyzB8BRoP8WV9AbVsHggekeDrVNF
    6oweXpZ6cbRoM6fueEPPWpArua5G1yZXb2
Which were all sent a Satoshi in the transaction:

Now, the client asked me to use 0.32 as the miners fee, which I did. As we all know, this is strictly negotiable, and can probably be significantly reduced. So the total cost to embed this data in the blockchain was 0.32000015.

So, anyone got a good way to make the QT client NOT charge a fee?

Holy Rising Chikun Batman. Awesome. FLUX module documentation coming.

    Can we use this: http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,5558.msg42025.html#msg42025

I feel the answer is so obvious that you must be talking about something entirely different, but here it goes …

Set the fee to 0.00 in settings?

I’ve never been brave enough to set it to 0.00 (I use 0.03 on FTC), but assumed that it would send (eventually–before the world ends) with no fees if set to 0.00.

I think it does. And now with 0.8.6 (which was just released today) the fee rules are changing again.

I’m over here on my knees having seizures of frustration that I can’t donate anything to this. 😞

Oh well, every day I adjust cgminer in some way or another to try to get it to cooperate. One day it will.

I don’t have a problem sounding like a sycophant, because honestly, I think this project is awesome, so I’m watching it with stars in my eyes.

This project is exciting! Nixxle, do you have a thread over in Mining? Maybe someone can help you get cgminer working. I’m no expert, but I’d be willing to take a crack at it.

Kevlar - I just finished my first full night mining with my R9 290 that came in yesterday; expect some FTC floating your way very shortly.

    …see what I did there…floating…huh?.. 😎
