Feathercoin Website Development v3 - Statement of Requirements.

1. Control development and enhancement of Feathercoin Web Site and Forum
2. Encourage and facilitate member input to the website development

3. Facilitate member Technical development of Wallet and Feathercoind
4. Support Feathercoin Mining and Mining pools
5. Develop and implement methods of maximise members to operation of the forum, if possible, automatically. With the least necessity for moderation.

Basic home users. Answer their possible questions. What is this?, how can I send this to friend?, how can I buy something?, etc. And site should serve also for them to find different wallets + other necessary tools + guides.

I have taken over Wellenreiter 2nd post, for the proposed or forum possible enhancements, ready for prioritising later. As the Main thread is getting too long.

Each area, like the main page should be going ahead as its own thread. The members are helping with getting Github started to store and change control work and invite collaborators.

For instance, example or other prototype ideas for the front page need more space to develop ideas…

Just thought about an everyday increasing overview about all areas Feathercoins are used already. Could grow in future with search functionality to check by categories, ratings by forum members, ads and random suggestions.

Maybe some cool graphs showing the increasing FTC influence in the world - along with the detailed parts would be interesting too.

Thought about it today, as currently a lot of interesting things appear and are distributed in the forum.

This new section could become a center of visible Feathercoin innovations.

o How much will I earn? Again, link to profitability calculator, maybe even include a list of GPUs and average hashrates to calculator?
o Footer â€" latest Tweets widget - chrisj is doing awesome job with that - everyone should be aware of that and follow us

o Featured market products? (this is a must if you ask me)

o How do I exchange my FTC for other currencies?

â€¢ We will most likely buy some template which will be ripped apart and customized for us as it really doesn’t make much sense to develop new template from scratch â€" it would take months
â€¢ Forum â€" we should stick to current SMF, I’ve seen there were some bridges available so it probably can be integrated into WordPress

â€¢ Market â€" with some CSS pimping, probably can look like the rest of the site

Design wise lets go google on it and Keep it simple.

I do like the idea of a banner rotator as we have a ton of information to get across,
no text, lets use video, images & info graphics in the banner, but we need to do this without it taking years to load.
Banner rotator with 3 or 4 things max, 3 permanent and 1 weekly/monthly updated banner.

Item 1 What is Feathercoin Video
Item 2 Get a Wallet (this is everyones first step, it has to be here)
Item 3 Get Feathercoins in your wallet and spend them, swap them, etc them

Very rough - colours are not there, but I like to use the front page as a simple gateway - use the slider frames to communicate, have the client download link there.

We can break that bottom portion into two - download links + social media portal.

Another idea I had was to implement a slide up or down Stats Bar [about 20px high] with live updating stats such as [Diff. / Global Hashrate / Coin Prices / Coins Mined]

I’d have to see what FB + Twitter offer in terms of API and customization, but it might be nice to have a micro hub somewhere, even in the footer.

Oh, and finally - no idea what to do for our header/logo.

I can upload PSD if anyone likes - it might be easier to tear it apart.

I did some tweaking today:

Menu moved to top so that it can be seen on every page in same spot [we have room on it for Social Media icons and maybe Feathercoin Icon + Name but…]
Portion between Menu and Carousel needs some content. Could also be used for FTC Logo + Feathercoin + Social Media
Carousel window enlarged for more content.
Space underneath split into two: CALL TO ACTION ON DOWNLOAD + KEY STATS [I will think about making these look prettier]
Footer extended to full width and - check it out - live stats! This would be awesome and I think we can easily implement it!

Header and Footer always present on each page and visible - all other content within it.

Next up I will think about how the pages inside work. I’m thinking two columns for About + Get Started with Left Column as Menu that opens Right Column articles.

Well technically it doesn’t. It says that Feathercoin [i]is[/i] an internet currency. What it isn’t is a currency that is controlled by a central bank. But I agree ;)

How about: A global Internet currency independent of any bank or institution."

This discussion is relevent, web site modes of failure discusion.

Now Feathercoin is becoming popular, we are starting to get over run by support requests. This could result in manual DDoS.

1. Simplify Wallet install
2. Simplify Download page - Downloads should be more prominent
3. Warn people not to download the beta test version unless they know what they are doing! Don’t confuse the versions
4. Put a separate download link prominently on the Forum.
5. Do not release until very high confidence everything is fine.
6. Find ways to encourage more support staff volunteers…
7. Improve guides section for absolute newbies
8. Forum newbie help effectiveness analysis by testing new users (at meet-ups)
9. Encourageing or facilitating more physical meet-ups and face to face training of initiators / helpers.

10. Edit the forum help to "Forum rules / requirements
11. Add an A.I. chatbot that uses old forum posts to answer questions about Feathercoin.

(Note this is done by [Solved] and that could be extended.)

Note that this idea has been implemented by moderators or posters to change the header to reflect the outcome.

This is a case where training the membership is impossible so has ended as a job for moderators.

I know from what they say and their actions that Peter, Chris and myself want the members to operate the forum, if possible, automatically.

With the least necessity for moderation. ( I will add that to the specification as well) so automating the moderator categorisation would be double positive.
