    • RE: Feathercoin up 400% in a week

They are now at 18p! Might start to break even on the coins I bought at 48 pence back in early 2014 :D

Going to take several days to get approval at coinbase and then bank transfers take 2-3 days to clear, annoying. Might miss this wave.

Wonder if we’ll see £1 a coin end of next year. That will wake up some of the old users again :)

@jonathonas It’s always been under $1. If you look at the charts you will see it has been gradually increasing. The drop has only been because BTC has sunk 40%

    • RE: BTC bubble bursting and fate of Feathercoin

      Few things:

BTC is an old coin, slow and expensive to make transactions. If “lightning” works and takes off I think this coin will fly again. But otherwise I can no longer see BTC being used for what was intended, a replacement for Fiat. I expect the Altcoins to continue to make better progress and BTC prices to normalise. BTC prices are very inflated, they are only so expensive due to marketing, it’s an inferior coin, so why is it 8000X times more ?

The government regulation bans are causing these price drop scares as people sell off their coins, as we fear more countries will continue to adopt this and this will effectively close the market.

We are still in a good place in that Cryptos are being marketed, talked about and “normal” every day people are becoming interested and buying them. Although most of them are buying them as they see them as an inflating “stock” / get rich quick strategy, but this doesn’t matter as it all helps improve the usage of the coins. At this stage I think we are showing that this can work, we now need more merchants to start accepting crypto.

I think whoever has the best security ,transaction fees and transaction time is going to corner the market for adoption. Yesterday I read Starbucks will start accepting crypto and of course won’t be accepting BTC as it’s far too slow and expensive at the moment

As I have said on many other threads, I am looking forward to having a universal wallet on my android, that is cloud based i.e no block chain files stored on my SSD! . Using my fingerprint to unlock + NFC I can tap to use Oyster (tube travel), buy my lunch , buy my plane tickets. Fly to Europe and tap and buy my lunch there. Tiny fee charges and an instant conversion of fiat -> crypto. Prices are fairly stable, just like currencies. No crazy currency conversion fees or need to carry all these different cards, but “credits” that we top up from our paychecks.
Funny thing is, we could be there in a few years.

Small shops hate credit cards, due to the high fees. If they accept crypto they only pay fractions of a pence, meaning we can buy our candy from a newsagent and not have to carry coins! etc

Futures looking bright, don’t care about the prices, care about the regulators! :)

    • RE: Feathercoin up 400% in a week

      @wrapper
Yeah I can’t believe I was so careless. Back then 100 LTC was £100. Incidentally I made 2 purchases that day from bittylicious, some FTC + some LTC. I went and backed up my FTC wallet as I bought those first. Looks like I bought the LTC and had the wallet installed on C: and forgot about it. Crypo was so dead then and I guess the £100 really wasn’t a big deal in my life entirety

I decided to upgrade my desktop so I took the SSD and installed it in my new machine, formatted and reinstalled windows. Fast forward 12+ months and then I see LTC hit £50. I was like hmm, let me see how many LTC I got (out of interest) oh… I can’t find my LTC wallet, wait a sec! oh shit…
Many a night I tried to recover the wallet.dat file with various recovery tools, but I could only recover some of the program files. Those blocks were no doubt overwritten and overwritten again months ago.
Decided to take it on the chin, as it was causing me many sleepless nights and anxiety as I continued to see LTC hit £70 and was thinking what I would of done with that 7k. If I could find a specialist to take the drive to bits, then perhaps i’d have a chance. If I had 1000 LTC on there, then I probably would have.

Nowadays I decided to buy 10% of my pay check (after tax) on some crypto per month. So i’ve got about 11LTC so far. This helps adjust for crash and hikes, as for all we know if the government bans/makes it impossible for exchanges in 2 years, we are all out of luck.

I also decided that i’d never sell what crypto I do have for this small gain. I’d rather wait until this system finally works and it’s worth selling, or I’ll take the money I have invested on the chin (which will probably be less than a few thousand.
Hell I guess if FTC goes to £4, i’ll cash out too :)

    • RE: FTC Price Prediction END OF 2018

@j_scheibel We’ve got that already for GBP - . Bittylicious.com . But no one is buying FTC there, as the demand here seems to be low .
More exchanges taking the coin will help it get noticed, there is a thread about this. We have quite a bit of development proposed for this year and I hope this drives some more interested in to the coin too.
If someone builds a global fiat to FTC exchange, I’ll be glad to help trade there for GBP transactions

    • RE: bitcoin and altcoins are failures

@coinsbee if you think it’s going to fail now, you dont understand the purpose of this currency. It would be worth doing some reading or even watching some of the bitcoin documentaries. The reason we are now getting excited is that these are finally started to be adopted more.
It’s hopefully only a matter of time before these are accepted as a new form of currency for trading.
Back in 2014 I was worried. The market was static and all alts plummeted. If we all knew this would turn around we would have dropped 10k in alts and be millionaires.
We can only hope the momentum continues, as everything that has happened recently has created press and more demand to buy - even though people don’t even know what it is. It’s all good news and long may it continue.

That equates to 166 transactions a second then ? Not quite up to Ripple’s sustained 1500 tx/per second then, but not bad :)

    • Transactions per second

      I was thinking about this last night and couldn’t find these figures anywhere;
How many transactions per second can FTC handle ?
We all know it’s quick/near instance at the moment, but this is probably due to the fact it’s not well used globally. How do we plan on increasing this?

For an altcoin to be accepted as payment for goods in Cafe’s etc, you will need near instant transaction times, equivalent to VISA or they just wont be accepted

    • RE: FTC Price Prediction END OF 2018

@j_scheibel Yes, we hit circa £0.55, which is amazing. If FTC generates their own exchange where you can buy FTC direct for USD / GBP / EURO, that would help with the independence. That and adoption of retailers taking the coin directly.

    • FTC Price Prediction END OF 2018

Just for a bit of fun.
We all know FTC is an old school, under valued, no BS, no pre mine, fair mined, community backed coin.
When will the rest of the world see this and start to back this coin to help pave the future?
We all know this coin should be £10 per coin, but how long will this take.

That said i’d like to put an “optimistic” price of £1 a coin, based on the current state and chain of events in the market.
