Those time stamps must be fake. They coudn’t afford 490GH/s hash power. The whole Litecoin network is at 19GH/s currently. They generated a chain and injected it.

Forked for the 1st time at #33603 until #33615.

They tried to double spend some 300K FTC, though it was 600K for the last fork. I guess they have managed to make those extra 300K and got away.

Who pays for the extra 300k? Is it just randomly made? :S

That’s a quick analysis. They could have made more or nothing at all. Although they have tried hard by combining block generation and DDoS assaults on the largest FTC pools. Someone did the homework well, a classic repeated 51% attack.

A good question is who has suffered in this attack. Not exchanges this time.

Is it still safe to transfer FTC to and from our wallets? I noticed a thread about coins being lost when transferring to BTC-e.

Your coins are safe in your wallets. BTC-e may be screening incoming transfers.

well, my wallet just had 841.99532139 coins that I’ve had for some time now all of a sudden show up as unconfirmed (while my client was open then went out of synch) and depleting that amount from my wallet. I’m assuming this will correct itself eventually.

That was a massive attack. The last block received is being shown as 17 hours back.

I was more or less referring to validation of transactions in the network. Could a 51% attack render a transaction invalid if the transaction takes place during the attack?

Seems like there was a failed attempt, but our baby held.

I would recommend not doing any transaction right now.

Looking forward to the lower difficulty retarget to bring additional reinforcements to the network.

Would be very interesting to hear what our tech heads have to say about this. Looked to me an attempted attack which didn’t work.

Indeed it could if the transaction got stuck in an orphaned block.

Has anybody reported lost coins yet? Wonder what that 300k coins is.

My pool has been ok, but it’s only at 6 - 7 Mh/s.

We lost at least one block in this attack.

I have a few Database backup, what could we do with them?

So most of the recent blocks on the network are from the ‘bad’ guys? Or do our guys have got a few blocks too?

That’s a question I have about the retarget. Is it actually set to go down? Or with the sudden surge in hashpower can the lower difficulty retarget be adjusted? Thus thwarting the retarget.

also with blockchain backup? Is this referring to the client? I keep a feathercoin client always running on a virtual machine. How do I check if the blockchain is corrupt? I just have it backed up every night.

                                          >:( I had a block on fcpool that I found and mined straight but no payout but paid for the surrounding blocks. My miners never stopped during that time. Of course this was during the initial hash jump from 170mh to 400mh yesterday. Bigvern, like the boss he is, corrected it but I have a lot of questions now…
