    • [ANN] Electrum-FTC: First lightweight (SPV) Wallet for Feathercoin

To level the crypto currency playing field for Feathercoin, we - the Feathercoin Development Foundation - release the first version of Electrum-FTC.
More new software and wallets for Feathercoin (and Bitcoin - we plan to use the synergies of the ecosystem) will follow 🙂

    • [ANN] BTCPay gets FTC support (self-hosted Payment processor)

      alt text

BTCPay, the open source payment processor software, gets support for Feathercoin thanks to @ChekaZ !

      What this means in practice:

      • Merchants can now easily accept FTC themselves, being fully independent
      • Payment processors, brokers and exchanges can just use BTCPay and offer that as a service for companies that want to accept FTC (as well as BTC, LTC)
      • As soon as we have Lightning ported for Feathercoin we get instant Lightning support ootb for merchants thanks to BTCPay !

Thanks again for @ChekaZ for doing all the implementation work.

    • [Guide] Setup an ElectrumX Feathercoin Server Ubuntu

      alt text

There is now an Electrum wallet for Feathercoin: https://medium.com/@Feathercoin/electrum-wallet-for-feathercoin-goes-into-public-beta-255c308e1c9d

For the wallet to work we need ElectrumX servers (https://github.com/kyuupichan/electrumx). We already have 4 servers (2 from the foundation, 1 from @AcidD, 1 from @ChekaZ), but more servers would be better! :) You might also want to run your own server to get the maximum level of security and privacy.

Here is a guide on how to setup a ElectrumX server: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uugry744driAXe3_ZmlLT575WNe8l4B2zVluvpDCpjA/edit?usp=sharing

If you have setup a server please share it’s address in a comment below.

    • Electrum-FTC version 3.1 released !

The Electrum-FTC 3.1 version is out!

That means our Electrum Feathercoin wallet has now the latest features from the (Bitcoin) Electrum wallet.

We are very happy with the great work ThomasV and his team did with Electrum and are actively contributing through our developers to improve Electrum (see https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/pull/4408 https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/pull/4427 https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/pull/4371 https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/pull/4308 https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/pull/4149 etc etc). Exciting! I’m very much looking forward to 0.16 and the new Bech32 addresses!

We will also have them in the next Electrum-Wallet release. Hopefully exchanges and mining pools will also update to 0.16 fast so most transactions on the FTC blockchain will be going to Bech32 addresses :)

    • RE: Hi :)

Thanks a lot for the fast and extensive answers!

      Good questions : but rhetorical?

Sorry I didn’t mean to insult anyone or complain. English is not my mother language.
I’m just looking for more ressources (which you provided already, thanks!).

Here is the start of “software change control” documentation for 0.9.6.x series, it is currently ongoing, it aims to provide the “evidence” or “facts” to answer your questions, of what has gone on in detail . …

This looks very helpful, thanks for your work.

I’m also curious to check out the source code in more detail soon :)

@rogerdarin said in [ANN] BTCPay gets FTC support (self-hosted Payment processor):

In case you want to set BTCPay Server up, there are two great tutorials on the project’s website: https://btcpay-server-testnet.azurewebsites.net

I just set one up to test yesterday and it was really very easy (with the Docker-Compose).
It will be also very easy with FTC once @ChekaZ has his Docker image finished.

Then it’s a few command line calls to setup a BTCPay server with BTC, LTC and FTC :)

    • RE: Simplifying the forum

      Other suggestions:

Remove the shoutbox - we rather have one channel less if there isn’t enough traffic for it. Forward people to Telegram or let them ask directly in the forum instead.

Remove very old pinned topics such as https://forum.feathercoin.com/topic/8010/welcome-to-the-new-forum https://forum.feathercoin.com/topic/8395/fsight-feathercoin-block-explorer-api https://forum.feathercoin.com/topic/8904/dev-website-maintenance-design-github etc.

    • Simplifying the forum

Unfortunately since wrapper hasn’t been active lately the forum has lost quite a bit of steam.
I suggest to reduce the number of sub-boards in this forum. It would make the forum easier to navigate and less dead.
If the forum gets very big we can still add new sub-boards.

In particular I’d delete or move the following sub-topics:

      Polls (0 topics) -> delete
Other Altcoins (3 months ago) - Make it a Subcategory of Off-Topic
General Category (4 months ago) -> all content can also go into Off-Topic or Feathercoin Discussion. Move current content to Off-Topic.
Community Groups (2 years ago) - delete
Crowd Sourcing (5 months ago) - topics can be a part of Projects instead
Suggestion Box (5 months ago) -> Make it a subcategory of Projects. Other things can go into Feathercoin Discussion or off-topic.

Alternatively we can also do it in a similar structure as Bitcointalk does it - everyone is already familiar with that.
