    • FTC Marketing

I just made this post on FTC’s discord chat, and I figured it would be a good one to add on here as well:

I know I’m coming in a little late on this discussion about marketing, but I would like to add my 2 cents.

When I found FTC, I was looking for a good mining opportunity. I was looking for a cheap coin (I would later find that what I actually needed, but didnt quite understand, was that I wanted an UNDERVALUED coin…which FTC is) which was possible to be mined by a 100% mining rookie. I stumbled across FTC, and began to read and read and read about it. I saw a potential gold mine. The more I read, the more I fell in love with this coin. I tried to envision 5 or 10 years down the road, and what BTC could potentially be worth, and what LTC could potentially be worth. I logically concluded that FTC would either be where LTC currently is, or, hopefully, even higher. I don’t think this is really all that far-fetched of a possibility.

I went on to every crypto-related page I follow on Facebook, and started talking about FTC. I found that there were quite a few people who knew of FTC back in the day, and didn’t know that it was still around.

In my humble opinion, this is really a GREAT starting point for marketing FTC…or any other coin for that matter.

I don’t think we truly understand just how easy it is to get people interested in a coin.

I would advise everyone on here who has a vested interest in the success of FTC to do the same.

Don’t sit around thinking of a good way to market a coin. Let’s all get out there and market it ourselves!!

    • RE: BTC e??? All my Feather coins were at BTC e exchange and as you prob know BTC e no longer supports FTC?? BTC e won't tell me where my FTC coins are? Any help or direction is greatly appreciated, Thanks

This is definitely not meant to kick anyone while theyre down, so PLEASE don’t take it as such.

With that being said, whenever we have something like this happen to us, all we can do is learn from it and move on. Dwelling on it accomplishes nothing. I would definitely keep in touch with them to see if you can get your coins back, but if you cant, then you cant…not much else to say.

Lesson learned: DO NOT EVER leave coins on an exchange. Pay the incredibly small fee to move them back and forth in and out of your PERSONAL wallet each time. If someone else holds your keys, then they hold your coins…

    • RE: wallet stuck

Everyone reading this thread, please also take note that the speed of your internet connection has little to do with how fast the wallet syncs, as someone stated earlier. I live just a little outside of metro Atlanta, and I have a screaming fast connection. It still took my wallet over a week to synchronize…

Also remember, you can still send coins to your wallet address, but you will not be able to see them in your wallet balance, since this transaction took place on the most recent block which will, naturally, be the last one downloaded. I know this seems quite basic, and stupid to say…but I nearly lost my sanity when I dealt with it a while back…

      @ghostlander
So…I’ve spent the last week or so really digging into getting myself set up to mine FTC. I have read SO MANY blogs from years ago, and your name popped up consistently throughout many of them. It’s crazy to see your name on here, still posting, and still active! Thank you for everything you’ve done throughout the years, man!

    • Back from my sabbatical!

When I was an early teenager, around 95 or 96, (geez I’m getting old! Ha!) I had my face buried in my computer as much as I could. I would make web pages, and did everything I could to be an AOL “hacker”…although I was never really successful at that! HA!

Between then and now, life happened, and I used computers for nothing but surfing and the occasional game.

Well, Ive been into the crypto space for the last 6 months or so, and I have just recently decided that I really LOVE the idea of Feathercoin. I have wanted to mine since I started doing this, but I couldn’t justify the larger coins. When I found Feathercoin, I finally saw a coin with some incredible growth potential that I feel is still possible for a newbie to mine.

I spent about a week and a half trying with everything that I had to get my mining software working. I had the nagging voice in the back of my head saying “You can’t give up! You know that you’re smart enough to figure this out!” It quite possibly gave me a couple gray hairs, but I am proud to say that I finally got it up and running.

      I am running ccminer 814 beta cuda 8 with a GTX 1070 with a hash rate of 1.2-1.3 MH/s.

I feel like I’ve revived the old computer geek that was lost for a number of years, and I’m wondering how much bitcoin I would be in possession of if I had never let him die.

It feels good to be back!

I’ve only been into crypto for about 7 months now, but in that short time I have become an avid fan of FTC, UFO, and neoscrypt in general. Please keep up the good work, man! This post has me even more excited for the future of FTC than I was 10 minutes ago…and that’s saying something!!

And there lies the beauty of the FTC…

“but I can’t bother with GPU.”

You have to actually want to mine FTC. You can’t just buy a machine, and plug it in the wall. Once again, you have to actually want to mine it.

It really is a wonderful thing!

LESSON TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE NEW TO THIS STUFF*

Get in the habit of regularly backing up all of your crypto and crypto related accessories (ESPECIALLY your wallet.dat file) onto a usb stick!!! Depending on your level of involvement, it may be a good idea to encrypt these files as well.

Cryptocurrency can be a lucrative asset, but it comes with great responsibility!

    • RE: Wallet slow to sync

It took extremely long for me as well. There were a couple times where I was 100% convinced that it had frozen, and stopped updating. I got to where I would just close the wallet out, and restart it before I left for work in the morning, and do the same thing as soon as I got back home. I think it took almost a week, and I have a solid connection, as well. Be patient! =o)

      @clickinorka

      Well, you’re definitely not mining.

You are connected, because the miner is showing new blocks as they come in. I can’t be 100% certain of this, but it seems as though the antivirus is what is causing your problem. Some of these guys who know more about the technical side may be able to look at your log file and let you know for sure, but for now (since it may take them a little while to see this), I would definitely try just totally disabling your antivirus to see if that corrects the problem. If it does, at least you know what you’re looking for. Past that, I don’t know enough about your antivirus to really give you any advice on how to get around it.

    • RE: Can't start mining...?

@chekaz I believe that the newer versions of the wallet make solo mining with the strategy you offered impossible. I solo mined for quite a while just as you stated, but once the wallet got to .13 (I believe), it was no longer possible. From the questions I asked on here, I think it had something to do with getwork vs getblock or something like that.

    • RE: Can't start mining...?

      @ClickinOrka
When I first started trying to mine, I beat my head up against a wall (figuratively) for quite a few days before I finally found success. Stick with it, and you’ll eventually get it working.

As far as your comment that there’s no way this should be this complicated, that’s exactly how I felt when I got started. The longer I messed around with it, the less I felt this way. Once you get it working, you’ll feel a great sense of accomplishment, and every thing you try afterwards will be that much easier. FTC was the first coin I ever mined, so I learned the most from it. Since then, I have mined pretty much every coin you can think of, at least a little. Trust me when I tell you that all of the coins I mine since then have been much easier…not because it is hard to mine FTC, but because I learned so much with FTC, I was able to apply that knowledge across the board.

The first thing you have to bear in mind is that most miner programs were developed with a specific type of GPU in mind. Since you said you’re using a GTX, I would start with CCMiner, and ChekaZ recommended. CCMiner is the most efficient miner I found to work.

      • Join a pool. My favorite pool is the “official” pool which is ran by the developers on this forum. This pool charges no fee, so if you end up sticking with mining, I would highly recommend donating to the pool as a thank you to these guys!

      https://pool.feathercoin.com/

-Download whatever version of CCMiner you choose (typically, the newer ones are faster)

My favorite miner is here: https://github.com/ghostlander/cudaminer-neoscrypt create a text document in the same folder with the miner.

      • Put this line in the body of the text file:

      “cudaminer-x64.exe” -o “stratum+tcp://pool.feathercoin.com:6056” -u “worker” -p “password”

All of the fields which I put quotation marks around are going to be specific to your mining program, your pool, and your worker name on the pool. You need to remove all quotation marks from your actual file. After entering all of this info, you want to save the file with .bat at the end, rather than .txt

This is what my .bat file looks like -
      cudaminer-x64.exe -o stratum+tcp://pool.feathercoin.com:6056 -u jimmy24651.4 -p x

jimmy24651 is my login on the pool, and this particular worker is named 4.

Run this batch file, and you should be good to go.

I try to keep up on here as much as possible, so if this doesnt work, let me know and I’ll try to respond as soon as possible.

      I hope this helps!

    • RE: Problems with 0.13 wallet

I hate to beat a dead horse, since this is something that we’ve already discussed, BUT, I did want to keep everyone in the loop of what I am seeing just in case you all are not seeing the same things.

I had the exact same thing as I described above happen again this morning.

I sent 3 different transactions this morning to my “main desktop wallet”. The first two, which consisted of 40 coins a piece, were sent from 2 separate wallets, went through as expected, with no problems. The third one was sent immediately after these 2, from a third wallet, and has still not confirmed. It has been 60 minutes since the coins were sent!
