    • RE: Not a newbie

      @multialgo said:

I came here to ask— would Feathercoin devs consider forking to multi-algo (like in Myriad)?

It’s become rather popular lately, being imitated by Digibyte, Digitalcoin, and soon to be Auroracoin, Verge, among others.

Feathercoin could keep its neoscrypt and add other algorithms. The possibilities are endless:

      ~ 80% of blocks neoscrypt
      ~ 10% sha256d, 10% scrypt, merge mining enabled

      OR

      ~ 25% neoscrypt
      ~ 25% blake2s
      ~ 25% groestl
      ~ 25% keccak

      Just two ideas…

      THE ADVANTAGES

      • More hash power!
      • If neoscrypt difficulty ever spikes, blocks continue to be found
      • Mining is more decentralised— greater farm resistance?

Hi, thanks for interesting offer. But I am worried we have bit different plans at the moment :)

    • RE: UNITUS (UIS) want to change one algorithm for Neoscrypt.

@AmDD I think just the fact some coin is interesting in adopting Neoscrypt is good news by itself. But there is more. The UIS dev actually like the Neoscrypt because it fit the philosophy behind UIS nicely and have lot of miners.

Ok, what the hell is UNITUS? It is multialgorithm coin consisting of those:

      • Lyra2re
      • Skein
      • Qubit (to be replaced)
      • Yescrypt
      • X11

The best part is that UIS is first coin that combined multialgorithm with merged mining. So technically, if we switch Qubit for Neoscrypt, you can mine FTC and get some UIS at the same time.

You can check for more information here:

Conditions: You need to deliver fully funcional product. Specification must be agreed in advance with the team. So if you rogue-develop some half-working something, you might as well recieve nothing at all.

The guy (ftcorbsup) is holder of biggest FTC add and already paid 100k FTC to Lizhi for his work on 0.11.2

Please ask general questions or ideas in this thread. Bounty specific questions/ideas please focus on separate threads which I just created.

      1, Neoscrypt miner development
It seems Ghostlander was working hard on further optimalization of Neoscrypt miner.
Here is basic outlook of what has been done:
NSGminer v0.9.2 released with my NeoScrypt OpenCL kernel v7 and other enhancements.

      1. All GCN based AMD Radeons get a hash rate increase of 20% to 100% depending on driver version. The difference between 14.6 and 15.7 drivers is less than 2% now, so R9 280X @ 1000MHz may deliver 500KH/s.

      2. Performance of the older VLIW based AMD Radeons was doubled simply. HD6970 @ 925MHz delivers 255KH/s now.

      3. Added support for the very old VLIW based AMD Radeons of HD4000 series. HD4870 @ 750MHz can do 60KH/s. Not very much, but what do you expect of a card 8 years old?

      4. Added initial support for the NVIDIA hardware. Thanks to the Feathercoin community for their donation of 0.3 BTC spent on a GTX 750 Ti. Performance improved from 50KH/s to 185KH/s @ 1400MHz shaders. Older GeForce cards down to the very old 8000 series are also known to work.

      5. NVIDIA Management Library (NVML) may be used to provide with temperature and fan speed data. Copy nvml.dll from your driver distribution package to the miner’s directory.

      download miner from here:

2, Fundraiser for Ghostlander in progress
By checking add 733GhostxAXH9DEoTh2SzpcP9xh7CAeURF you may see, that FTC community donated 60k+ FTC to Ghost. With new release of optimized miner, please consider sending some more! Once he polish the miner, work on POS might start :)

      3, Successfull fundraiser for ChrisJ
Since ChrisJ left FTC and joined WCN he was pretty much asking internet for help all the time. His fundraiser for medical expanses seems to be very legit. He is lamenting about headaches year in a row now! So I hope he will get some well deserved help soon. And i am very pleased some FTC community members donated a lot in this action!

      Thank you!!

      4, Monster 300 000 FTC bounty
As you may have noticed we launched several bounties in 2016. I strongly encourage all members to express opinions in each thread. And if you are potencial developer, don’t be shy and ask questions or propose your ideas. With some of the projects realized the bounty value in BTC might soon be very very interesting!

      5, Poloniex integration
It seems main catch for Poloniex integration is that we share same genesis block with Litecoin. Do we just swallow that? I propose not, please demand addition and ask Poloniex questions about that issue :)

Also if you know anybody fluent in Mandarin, please ask them to ask BTC38 or Jubi.
      Thanks a lot!

      6, Death of Cryptsy
After some time, Cryptsy death is seen as huge relief across altcoin community. Many coins was suffering due to manipulated trades of insolvent exchange. Now when Cryptsy is gone, vast revaluation of many coins is taking place. Feathercoin is one of them.

Core 0.9.3 is official FTC release now, 0.9.5 avaliable for testing
Wellenreiter has done some great work in debugging Lizhi’s release 0.9.3, and we are happy to announce it as the official FTC release now.

      Here are Wellen’s comments:
      Core:

      • Directly forked from Bitcoin code, while older versions based on the litecoin fork
      • Adapted for Feathercoin on Windows systems originally
      • In a second step the adapted version was ported to Linux
      • 3rd step was to create pre-compiled Linux installation packages for major Linux distributions, so users are not required to compile the packages themselves
      • If users decide to add the package repository to their list of trusted sources, updates will be provided automatically in the future, but still need to be acknowledged by the user, unless fully automated updates are configured by the user.
      • Pre-compiled packages can be found at:

https://software.opensuse.org/package/feathercoin (under ‘unstable packages’ as the packages are not part of the official distributions
      or
      http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/wellenreiter01/

      which is the same repository

      Packages are currently available for

      • Debian 8
      • Fedora 20
      • Fedora 21
      • Fedora 22
      • Opensuse 13.2
      • Ubuntu 14.04
      • Ubuntu 14.10
      • Ubuntu 15.04

All packages are available for 32 and 64 bit Linux.
Support and problem reporting can be done via the forum.
Bug reports and feature requests can be placed in the forum, but preferred is https://github.com/Feathercoin/Feathercoin/issues

Ghostlander is working on better version of Neoscrypt miner
      Some details from Ghostlander:

      • His new miner is a fork of an older version of BFG miner with an optimized kernel for Neoscrypt.
      • Ghost will release his private kernel and make that kernel open source then.
      • Kernel optimization is in progress
      • Some testing still needs to be done, but it looks promising, and we will keep you updated on progress

      Moon mission

      • Both missions are paid up
      • I take care about ship 1
      • Pocket spacecraft is actively working to make it reality
      • Lets hope for 2016 launch
      • Check ps twitter for updates: https://twitter.com/mySpacecraft

      FTC listed on I2P Exchange

      • We are among the first coins listed on: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1092682.0
      • 5% of fees go back to coin development
      • Exchange dev has interesting vision:

I get understand that it is difficult to convince people to go through hoops for privacy, I’m hoping/expecting that most clearnet exchanges will choke themselves to death on regulation and ExchangeD will be the only alternative.

Forum software updated to latest version

First of all we want to apologize for the stability issues we had last week with the forum software.

The software is tuned to be fast and responsive despite all the features it provides, so it’s data is mainly kept in memory and dumped to the disk every X seconds only.
Unfortunately during such a dump a memory shortage occurred on the server causing the dump to fail and the server process to restart.
The result was an unusable database and we had to go back to the last available backup.

We moved the forum to a temporary server, fixed the problem causing the memory shortage and installed the latest version of the forum software.
We are now back to the original server and running the latest version of the forum software, which has several bug fixes, so we expect an enhanced stability and availability of the forum for you.

      Ghostlander’s thread on BitcoinTalk

      NSGminer v0.9.2:

Linux - GitHub (source code) https://github.com/ghostlander/nsgminer

      32-bit Windows release : https://github.com/ghostlander/nsgminer/releases/download/nsgminer-v0.9.2/nsgminer-win32-0.9.2.zip

      64-bit Windows release : https://github.com/ghostlander/nsgminer/releases/download/nsgminer-v0.9.2/nsgminer-win64-0.9.2.zip

NSGminer is an advanced NeoScrypt CPU and GPU miner with the OpenCL support delivering the best hash rates for the AMD Radeon hardware (HD4000 series and newer). Should be compatible with the latest AMD Catalyst drivers. Also provides limited support for all NVIDIA OpenCL capable GeForce, Quadro and Tesla hardware. No external dependencies other than libcurl. Getwork, GetBlockTemplate and Stratum protocols are supported.

      Example configuration for R9 280X (HD7970):

      Code:

      nsgminer --neoscrypt -g 1 -w 128 -I 16 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1500 -o stratum+tcp://some_pool:some_port -O some_user:some_password

–thread-concurrency, --shaders, --vectors are not used for NeoScrypt. --intensity or -I is the primary performance optimiser. May be set between 8 and 20 according to your video card’s memory size. For example, -I 16 means (2 ^ 16) GPU threads each of 32768 bytes = 2,147,483,648 bytes or 2Gb. There are some configuration tweaks available in neoscrypt.cl which might deliver a little bit of additional performance.

      @mirrax

      FYI email from omni devs:

      Hey Guys,

Omni is essentially blockchain agnostic. We currently leverage the Bitcoin network as a transport and use its input signing model to provide the security for Omni transactions, but nothing restricts us to doing this only on Bitcoin.

Since Litecoin (and Feathercoin) are forked from Bitcoin Core’s codebase and use the same input/output modelling, a port of Omni would be very easy. Essentially Litecoin/Feathercoin change the proof-of-work component, but this isn’t the component that Omni leverages so the underlying PoW mechanism is largely irrelevant for Omni.

@Craig - in a nutshell think about the resources we devote to a major branch change of our underlying Bitcoin Core stack (eg 0.9 to 0.10) and that is probably the level of work required to adopt an alternate chain.

It’s important to note however that Omni on a different chain would be an independent Omni state to that of Omni on Bitcoin (atomic cross chain swaps would be a killer app, but we’d need to do some thinking there). Also WRT to Litecoin, Charlie has already made his position clear on projects that embed data in the blockchain, so I think Litecoin would be a less than ideal target - we don’t want conflict - we want engagement, and I don’t think we’ll get that from the Litecoin development team.

      Thanks
      Z

[20:58:09] mirrax: 4btc are reserved for bounty no.1 now, there is no way for me to send it to him unless he stop acting like full psychopat. I made nice progress with omni devs by myself, 4btc should be more than necessary to finish the task and make omni ftc layer reality. I am willing to send 4BTC to some trusted team member who can hold it for bounty as originally planned.
[21:01:10] mirrax: for bounty number 2 and 3 i dont know, anybody interested should be warned about situation as there is no guarantee he will eventually pay those bounties, maybe that is the reason why he chosen me to hold the funds, i was not asking for it, it was his choice (as well as he sent me another 100k before that for Lizhi)

To be completely honest, Iam not ok with that. Kraken should have decided how to spend and what to do, even if he “donated” it for the bounty…

I would agree with you, but not now, after all the insults and dirt throwing at me, i am no longer his puppet, he did not treated me well.
