Hi Guys,

I have a question.

I sent a payment a few days ago, and now the coins have not arrived to their destination, nor are they in my wallet balance either.

I’ve seen previous answers which advocate dumping out the private key and re-importing it somewhere else, but my wallet has 4 “Receive Coins” addresses. Do I need to dump the priv key for each one of these? I understand that my balance should have been spread across all these 4 addresses, but I’d appreciate some guidance on what to do to get my coins back, it was 1250FTC and that’s pretty much all I had…

Thanks in advance.
Stefan

Do you know the id of the transaction that the coins were sent in?

You could look in the block chain explorer and make sure the coins arrived at the address you specified.

The Transaction ID cannot be found in the Blockchain…

Also, I’ve put each of my addresses into the Explorer and on the Explorer, the balances are correct, in that they total up correctly. That’s why I was wondering if I should dump the privkeys for each public address and import them into a completely new client.

Ah I see your two steps ahead of me
You could try the rescan command I keep hearing mentioned before dumping the keys out.

Ok, re-importing the private keys worked a charm, was a little surprised that the 1250FTC payment went through this time, I was expecting it to just have disappeared, but hey-ho, still got all my coins.

Thanks for the replies in all the threads I read.

Glad to hear that you got this sorted. The ‘wallet surgery’ trick has been around in Bitcoin for a fair bit of time. I need to investigate the cause of this as there may be a patch for it already. It seems to me that the keys are not being properly rescanned when people use the -rescan option.

I feel there needs to be a failsafe that does not allow the user to send coins when the client is not fully synced (green tick).
