We need a new forum, market, localcoin, exchange concept.

We’re guilty of what I call hype stabbing or neon marketing. Having a market, forum, local meet, and exchange doesn’t work if the coin is the main feature rather than a convenience. Some of us want feathercoin to rocket and be money. It won’t be global money, but it can be an alternative to StompCoin (LTC vs DOGE) and Foundation Schmuckery Coin (BTC, tainting, scenario leaks). The function of money for Feathercoin would be to remain independent of the passive progress mentality in most established coins.

We started as a self directed group and we came together to compete with other coins. It’s time we took that idea into another direction. There’s nearly 1000 coins now. Competition is everywhere. We need to stand on different ground now.

Homework assignment: What ordinary everyday forgettable activity supported by fiat would you like to see supported by FTC? Don’t try to impress or dazzle. Pick something that you do frequently or that you enjoy and tell the rest of us about it. Short term projects doable by 4 to 8 people in say a day to a week maximum.

Now with that out of the way: We need to turn the forum into a blog space. Maybe have a custom reddit like environment. The front page would be a digest of things that are happening in the community pulled from the subs.

I imagine four kinds of spaces:

Main forum for tech, community, mutual support, and policy.

Feathercoin supported meta market and projects.

Mutual exchange non-coin supported barter and projects.

      Personal or community blog.

I would prefer a loosely knit decentralized system like pump.io with a reddit like feel. Main section would be centralized, feathercoin section would be reddit like but decentralized. Mutual exchange would be a cross between reddit and wordpress also decentralized. Personal or community blogs would have widgets allowing two way interaction between them and the other three parts.

Feathercoin needs to make things easier, but the purpose of a market should be to buy and sell, not promote FTC. Maybe accepting LTC and BTC is a bit scary considering the hostility, but at the very least it should offer a jobs section if FTC will be prominent.

This all sounds like a pretty monumental task…

It would be nice though to give ftc a whole new face.

Especially if it is more user friendly and interactive one.

There is no reason why some sub forums couldn’t have a different layout more suitable to the content they provide, it’s a really great idea. I’ve been digging through the Invision software looking for great bits which we are not using. The support section could really benefit from ‘best answer’ function for example. Invision also provide other integrated modules, like a blog tool, which may be a good idea, if it makes it easier for the team to get involved. Engaging the community more, making it easier for people to contribute, offering easy ways to get help is the way to capture people’s imagination and build up a strong community which is scalable.

always get lost on reddit and don’t understand the reputation system there.

For me reddit is discouraging to post anything

Reddit reputation system: You get a point every time someone upvotes your post or comment. The numbers are randomized when scores go high or lots of attention happens. This is to discourage fame seeking.

The reddit feel means you can create your own community easily.

I’m the same with reddit. I don’t find it natural to follow.

I fully agree with all what Zerodrama just said, we need to act much more like our most beloved bank.

Completely decentralized bank with highly effective structure of executive nodes overlaying the basic memebers network.

And masternode has to be degraded to same level as the others execs as he is becoming more or less redundant now.

It will be great relief for him and the community.

                  And will benefit both.

                  Kill me.

                  :P

That’s because the front page is a mess. I know how to fix that. We would have a main section with a dynamic front page.

Underneath, we might be complex or unique but on the surface, we appear to have an incredibly tiny footprint considering our positioning amongst the top coins.

I completely agree that we do need to be more formal and have a more official structure for the devs/team/staff.

Is there any way that we could coincide this project with the development of the C.I.C?

After the fork, we should begin work on 3 major projects which will reshape ftc and crypto’s as a whole (one could only hope). The above can be considered one of em?

The other thought was Zero’s work on Flux (Qt cross crypto exchange)
and the 3rd was security features like 2FA/multisig.

Development of the forum is exactly the sort of thing the C.I.C should be getting involved in. :)

I know I know. But how serious are we taking our selves?

How important is ftc and is it worth dedicating the next 5 years to assure it can live through great big bang and formation stages of the crypto universe…

We lack funds but they can be achieved. We need a transparent way to provide formal backing and support for the network we are trying to create. I believe a C.I.C could be the way to do this in a manner that compliments the free and open source nature of feathercoin.

Best case scenario for ftc is that we can impliment everything that cuts out the middle man.

Thats what the BC tech was originaly intended for. If you could put it in a few words. It was to cut out the middleman.

Now what we see, is all these private or closed source solutions / platforms been built on / for the btc network.

Exchanges is the best example… They won’t exist in the coming future because everycoin will have one decentralised in their BC. (with maybe the exception of fiat to crypto)

Another example is gaining access to torrents. Link cuts out another middle man.

This is what we need to keep focusing our development on.

                                  Feathercoin. Cutting out the Middleman.
