Neoscrypt for nvidia cards based on cuda: Call for donation.
-
You are such a hypocrite, you come to bitcointalk to say that opensource should be free and nobody should donate before a program has been released but then you are asking here to crowdfund your gpu’s (and not a cheap 750ti…)
No problem to crosspost here.
“Because it’s quite obvious I cannot deliver a fast kernel for GTX 980 using a GTX 750 Ti only. These are two different cards based on two different GPUs, though of the same Maxwell architecture. In addition, the card getting crowdfunded doesn’t become my sole property. Compare to your demands now and start acting like an adult rather than a spoiled child.”

Come on !!! Please don’t take readers for complete idiot, this is insulting
You brag about being able to do this and that in opencl while most of the people don’t even use your kernel as they used a kernel released by Wolf0 most likely better. (yeah, I may-be acting a bit like a spoil child right now… this is what happen when someone come to brag to a thread I created to say he can do better, while not having seen the code, and not even owning proper hardware to do the job… )

You do know this place isn’t bitcointalk right? :o

I think its fair to say you have both spelled out exactly what your are offering. I think there are lots of NVidia miners who would love a optimised miner. There is no need to argue.
This is an environment where technical knowledge and advancement is valued and encouraged. As MrWyrm said this is not the wild west like bitcointalk and I’m happy about that.Like I have already said I will make a donation obut let’s make it £50 worth of crypto. If that’s for a new card or the bounty on the prebuilt miner I don’t really mind.
I would prefer it all to be ‘Free Software’ in the true gnu sense and simply donate rather than have it auctioned off.
But I understand the need to make skills pay and that’s a hard thing to do with freelance work. -
djm34: No offence now mate, but to be honest I think the low level of donations so far mainly is because you claim to have stuff that works but in fact nobody can really vouch for that, and screenshots can very easily be manipulated as we all know.
Mind you though, I’m definitely not saying you’re a scammer, so don’t misunderstand me. But I truly believe that if you handled this in another way you’d get more donations and the CUDA-miner would see the official light of the day.
I think one big step would be if we set up an official donation address held by the FTC-team for you, that’s good intention from your side, and a guarantee for everyone investing that you simply won’t just take the money and run :)
If we decide to do it that way, someone could also hook up with you on a video chat where you can show some kind of proof that you actually tell the truth (again, I’m not stating you’re lying right now, but the crypto business is shady in general so we all need to take precautions).
Give it some thought at least :)
Ghostlander: Ahh I see your point there. Hit me up if you change your mind tho, there are after all a LOT of rigs running with 750ti out there just waiting for some better performance in NS :)
-
Agreed Vizay I would even go as far to say that the 750ti is £/kh the best bang for buck.

Why not… I don’t have anything against it (the program really exists and runs…)
not sure how to make a video, so if you have suggestion at that level…
-
Well it is free but you need people to donate a card, so that’s not really free :) No I guess you understand the reason for a pledge…
Regarding Nvidia cards, sure I support their products. They have nice cards some are clearly overpriced but not all. The 750ti was pretty cheap and pretty good for mining (and the forthcoming gtx960 shouldn’t be too expensive with performance probably better than the 750ti).
Regarding opencl. Wolf0 who developped neoscrypt kernel for sgminer5 claims he has a kernel (private) doing 600kh/s on 290x may-be you could try to reach that speed with yours and release it for free, I guess you already have the material (Wolf0 won’t be happy if he reads me ;) )
I don’t just have claims, I has proof :P
But anyway, I’m not unhappy - I enjoy competition, it keeps me sharp.
-
This should fall under healthy competition, nobody really lose on it :)
djm34: I’ll talk with others from the team to try and find out who can act middle man and hold the donation adress for you :)

ok thanks.
In the mean time, here are some new numbers:
gtx980: 630kh/s
gtx780ti: 300kh/s
gtx750ti: 150kh/s
-
That’s pretty cool! :)
-
I posted the ad to the feathercoin forum and discovers there are mostly a bunch of morons
:o
-
:o
^-^ well, imagine you developed something and you post to the forum where the people who should care the most are…
then reread the first posts following my announcement… you’ll get an idea why I wrote that… ;D
-
Thanks. OK I retract my offer stick your miner up your arse!

;D fair enough (although it was written before anyone made an offer and when the discussion was just centered on paying part of ghostlander card… so sorry but up to then, yes I had just the feeling to either be on the wrong forum or discussing with morons who wouldn’t even answer to me… :)) )
-
In his defence, for Bitcointalk, that’s pretty tame. :)
-
okay fuck it, I’ve thought about if I should speak my mind or not all night and I’ve decided I’m not gonna hold it in…
Some of us tried to be helpful, we saw something that could be for the greater good. We even discussed it privately andcame to the conclusion that there’s nothing wrong with you wanting to get payed either.
Meanwhile, you go acting like a fucking five year old just because you get into an argumentation with one other member, and based on that calls us all morons over at btc-talk.
Well, you know what, your’e just a fucking douchebag with absolutely no honor or morale what so ever. It seems like you’re just like all the other pump n’ dumpin leeches in the crypto scene, just in it for a few quick bucks but with no intentions what so ever trying to make the world a better place.
So either release the kernel open source and do what’s right, or just go fuck yourself somewhere else.

I wish I’d not posed that now haha. He deserves another chance, everyone comes round to the feathercoin way of thinking eventually. ;D
