I usually set a 0.01 transaction fee. However, in a couple of transactions, I removed the fee and it was automatically asking for 0.005.

Wondering whether a 0.005 fee is built into the new client.

I have already started a thread on transaction fees. A flat fee of 0.005 FTC is built into the client, compared to 0.1 LTC and CHNCoin.

I made a number of points about this, which have not been answered to my satisfaction. I am still waiting to hear the policy from Bushstar.

Among my points were - why allow zero fee to be set if you can’t send with zero fee?.
Why allow 8 decimal places of fee, if you can only set 0.005 or above fee?
Why do some transaction have zero fee in the FTC block chain, have they just recompiled the wallet, with a slight tweek?.
If fees were added to stop Dust transactions, that is not a correct maintenance strategy, a minimum payment is more directed towards the cause of failure, and would be best action to take. The fees should be to reward miners for processing the transactions quickly (only!)
A flat fee is highly variable in value, and significant for small payments, which Feathercoin is supposed to handle.
A flat fee benefits large payments, when Feathercoin is supposed to be for normal Payments.

It would be better for Feathercoin potential long term future, if something new was added to better handle small payments, eg. auto garbage collection of small payments, after a time period to be agreed?

I made some other points, but the discusion rapidly got random and I wasn’t too happy with the response.

Client v.0.6.4 can be set to use 0.00 FTC transaction fee if that makes you happy. I’m not sure what “policy” you’re looking for here, this is an online coin, if Bush wanted he could set the fee to 50 FTC…
