So I’m having a trouble trying to buy Feathercoins. Yes, I’m eager to dump some of my money into this.

I can’t get approved through MtGox, and here’s why.

First. MtGox requires a proof of residency, which has to be a scan of a utility bill from the last six months or a tax return.

Here’s my problem:
I’m moving from my brother’s place in Oklahoma (where I lived for a year) back to my parents in Texas. I kept my Texas ID and residency address while I stayed in OK, so I never really lived there. My name is also on any of the utilities, either. My only recent tax return is from OK but since my MtGOX address is for Texas where I actually live now, they didn’t approve me.

I emailed them about it but they haven’t ever gotten back with me.

In the meantime, are there any other sites that will safely convert my USD into Bitcoin so I can buy Feathercoin?

Edit: I’m uncomfortable with wire transfers, so that is out, too. I’d like recommendations for somewhere I can put it on a debit/credit card.

For now, since I only bought a little less than $15 worth, I used the instructions in this tutorial:

http://www.btcpedia.com/buy-bitcoins-with-paypal-credit-card/

A little pricey after all the fees, but it seems to work (so far). They have to approve your first transaction (takes 48 hours they say) but I’m hoping it works out better. I’ll try and post back after I get the bitcoin credit.

Its crazy that in this day and age it’s still this hard to move cash around the planet due to all the security and required proof of who you are. I do get that it is necessary, but I can’t even go to a news blog without it knowing where I am from, what I just looked at, what my facebook account is, ra ra ra, googles follows me everywhere with it’s beady little trackers following me, advertisers are uncanny with their targeting and direct adverts, so everyone has an idea…

But should I want to give someone a wad of dollars to get something in return, hold your horses you criminal!!! I want proof of you being an air breathing uniquely identifiable serial number in a register somewhere that I can look at with my own peepers.

and the gox just removed an option for Aussies to deposit too, as far as I can tell from what I’ve read. When I saw photo ID required in the first place, something I don’t have, I just turned the idea off. I get into arguments at the local post office when they say “We’re not giving you your mail because despite the fact you’ve presented the card with your name and address on it, and despite the fact you have a bunch of government supplied ID that has your name and address on it, we don’t know if that’s really you, you sneaky little thief you, and you might be here to take this packet of 6 lithium batteries from china by deception. So Computer Says No. Pics or it didn’t happen!”

Paypal is a joke, and routines like the above are tediously convoluted unnecessarily.

One day I hope a smart cookie decides “Hmm, I could make a facny iphone app that lets people take pictures with a 10 second audio file and I’ll make billions because all the hip kids will dig it!.. Or I could make some sort of system that safely allows international bank transfers, easily, cheaply, safely and it will be adopted by everyone and I’ll just be happy and know I made the world a better place.”

:(

So many iphones tho…

Dwolla has done that with FiSync, though it’s not being adopted as fast as I would like.

Never used these people, due to not being an American citizen, but they look like a very good site, and looks very simple to use:

https://coinbase.com/

Looks very promising. I’ll try it out next time I have a few spending bucks. It takes 4 days to clear from the bank account, but that’s usual with transfers. Maybe this will work out.

I favorited it.

Well, I managed to get my stuff into BTC-e, where I bought 80 FTC. Someone else sent me 25 in the IRC the other day, so I’ve got over a 100 now. I feel good :)

All in all, I haven’t invested more than $20 in getting a little FTC. I highly recommend it if you’re not the mining type, as I’m sure FTC will go up in value someday (even if just a little).

I’m in the UK and could do with selling some FTC. I could only buy them through ebay / paypal, which have fees etc. I’ve set up and been mining in the UK for a month. It is probably also one of the most expensive electricity bills, compared to Canada and USA, and probably not economic in the long run.

Yes, so I’m only doing it to F*** the* M*n, If any on wants to support UK mining and help towards my bills, pm me and I will sell some FTC with Paypal.
