Changing the hashing algorithm

Wellenreiter, do we need external help with the stratum? Do you think it would increase productivity?

I can get my 550M to work up to I-13 without HW. -I 12 and -I 13 make little difference tho.

I hate to say it but it seems the 7850 has the edge over 750ti productivty wise while at same price… :( Tho I am not sure if lizhi had aggressive overclock or its just too hot in China :D - 86C

What temps are you getting with the 750ti ? Have you tried I-13 ?

Help with stratum would be really appreciated. My actual code is on github: https://github.com/wellenreiter01/p2pool-neoscrypt

I can add anybody to the repository who want to help.

I tested with minerd from Ghostlander and the hash calculated by the pool is always 2 byte too long when using stratum. Longpoll works fine.

Didn’t check my GPU temp, as the fans are running low speed it can’t be too high.

The NVIDIA cards are slower than the AMD card with opencl based miners.

I hope for Cudaminer to be adapted.

That should boost the performance of the cards.

You all keep mentioning Nvidia cards. Is neo better run on those or is AMD still dominant? I ask because I have 3 rigs full of 7950’s that Im holding off on selling to mine feather once the algo is changed. :)

I want to setup one on the test pool this weekend if I have time.

  • The openCl gpu miner seems to run better on nvidia cards but if/when there is a cudaminer (nvidia specific) they should be pretty even. Nvidia cards generally use less power and are not as hot but you don’t get as high a hashrate so its swings and roundabouts really.

  • folks, check this out https://github.com/ahmedbodi/stratum-mining-multialgo it claims to support stratum for neoscrypt

unfortunately this can’t be adapted easily to p2pool.

  • Where is the source for this. Love to help.

I have a bunch of GPS’s i can throw at this.

  • that would be GPUs not GPSs

    sigh

  • folks, check this out https://github.com/ahmedbodi/stratum-mining-multialgo it claims to support stratum for neoscrypt

this has not been modified in months

only looks like cpu neoscyrpt at best.

other cpu miners available if wanted .

  • I had pushed it in http://www.ftc-c.com/pack/testnet.rar

    please download it ,test it

  • My p2pool is running normally. >:D That is not too many connections .

There are 3 connections in wallet, 1 miner connect p2pool.

  • Hi all, How is Pheonixcoin getting on with the change? I have got 6 Cores dedicated to mining Neoscrypt and i have mined over 1000PXC in 5 days.

All seems to be working OK but i’m unsure of its effect on value / community.

Is there any reason we have to wait for an efficient GPU miner before changing FTC to Neo?

Just worried there is a scary amount of Scrypt ASIC out there at the moment and i know of a few people with over 10000Mh of Scrypt, couldnt they do a lot of damage to FTC if they wanted?

    Thanks

Work is continuing on a daily basis on the GPU miner, once it is ready we can switch over fairly quickly, the consensus is we don’t want to switch until the GPU miner is ready for release, but hopefully that won’t be too far away.

What are you pulling out of the six core? Can you tell what cpu model that is exactly

    thanks

  • What are you pulling out of the six core? Can you tell what cpu model that is exactly

    thanks

Yeah sure, im using a Dual Quad core Server and using 6 of the 8 CPUs to mine (other 2 are idle)

    6 cores (12 threads) of Xeon X5660 3.1GHz pull out 25KH/s.

  • SuperMicro G34 H8QGi+ -F -O Serverboard

Quad Socket 4x 6124 HE stock 1.800Ghz OC to 2.358Ghz

32 cores with luck so far 20 to 25 completed blocks per day, passed 3 days working.

Can’t wait to see my GPU’s at work, love to test the GPU client for you and give feed back, PM me.

  • Oh forgot to mention that I see a better hash rate with the CPU miner if I leave a core or 2 unused by the client.

This was tested on my laptop Intel 2670QM, the 980x 6 core 12 th and the SR2 12 core 24 th all produced

better k/hash per core if a core or two was left free. Not sure if that is something that needs addressed,

but thought I’d mention it to get feed back from others and if there seeing the same thing?

  • oh - never mind, I created my own (funny how its missing tho!)

    https://github.com/ghostlander/NeoScrypt

  • For those that may not know you can use 2>> logPXC.txt at the end of the command line for the CPU client

and all client text will be placed in a Text file within the folder where the client is installed. Makes for easy finding

of blocks found “test on windows client” by using notepad to open the text file then under edit click on find, type in

yay and hit enter key, if you have found a block it will take you right to it, then you can use next to move forward and

see the next in line that was found.

    minerd.exe --no-gbt -a neoscrypt -R 10 -o 192.168.1.107:9554 -O phoenixcoinpc:x --threads 20 2>> logPXC.txt

Update on the EVGA SR2 Stock clock 2.13Ghz OC 3.33Ghz

    Using 20 cores 51.66 khash.

  • Bump: Wake up! Everyone… ^-^

Set my i7 2670 QM back up today with the CPU miner working 6 of 8 threads.

    12.31 khash/s (yay!!!) 1st of two blocks found start time: 15:27 found at 18:32 2nd block at 19:45 12.22 khash/s (yay!!!)

    teaser: http://gyazo.com/de3e2c4b87eaa9c10c6cbeb1459795c3

    :-* :)

RW-Everything and ThrottleStop are a must for this laptop to control fan speed and CPU multiplier to keep tempertures in check.

Asus G74Sx… Would love to see the Nvidia Geforce GTX 560m at work as well… This was while playing Total Domination online

so no problems doing normal every day use things while mining Phoenixcoin. Come get you some!
