$4k for a rig

ok, back to the topic! *i’m guilty*
you have 4K to build this man a rig. how would you do it? ::)

if the core and mem runs at same temperature it should be the same.
however some maufacturers like for instance gigabyte use
custom pcb with different layout of mem chips etc

this and the different quality/solution in quality cooling makes difference when
pushing the card 24/7.
oh and also the quality of some of the components (condensators,mosfets and such) may vary depending on how exact replica of original amd sketch is.

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

linux has similar commands but i don’t have them handy since i don’t use it :P

As a few others have said, the 7950 really is the best GPU for mining currently, and $4K is enough to get you three complete rigs (about 6000 Kh/sec).

Both are arguably the best cards on the market. However, the Gigabyte WF3 is (as far as I know) much easier to tune. I have ~22 of them. They are amazing.

Just make sure you do the F43 BIOS flash, and you’ll be hitting 660 KHs in no time.

most of what i have read recommends at least 2 gig of ram per 7950, but a buddy of mine runs a few rigs with just 2 gig and has zero problems. it could simply come down to hardware configuration, karma, holding your mouth just right when assembling, or just plain old magic ::)

I use 7950s and they are the best card I could imagine. Can get >700kh/s with some tweaking. I’ve heard others complain of bad luck with 7950s and don’t understand it.

I do have one guess as to your problem…RAM! I have 10MB 1333 RAM in my machine that’s running 2X 7950s (Gigabyte). I’m willing to bet that most problems with 7950s can be tracked to low system RAM. Of course they can be sensitive to miner configuration too.

I will help anyone needing configuration advice…I think by now I’ve pretty much got the configuring part down to a science. Drop me a message if you need advice or assistance setting up a miner w/ a 7950.

Then share with the group! Ive been playing around with a 6950 and got somre PSU issues. So got a new PSU and a 7950 (sadly still in the mail) but now I will need to tweak that too. Alsgo im planning on mixing the 6950 with the 7950… any command line suggestions?

Wow nice! Right now I’m running my 4 with a dual power supply setup. I have a 1250watt and a 800watt supply and running them as hard as I can for over 600Kh/s a piece. I have room and power for a 5th so debating. :)

16? Holy shit. I wish I had that kind of money to throw around. Unfortunately I’m still working on saving up money to buy furniture. (Finally got a bed this month! :D)

I have 2 of the HIS cards. The voltage is locked at 1.25 unless you flash the firmware. They’re solid, averaging around 660kh/s at 1100/1500, but definitely loud and not great undervolters, so they’re power hungry. The Gigabyte is a good decision, though the MSI would certainly tempt me.

This is correct. With ~20x7950s running, you’ll need about 15,000 BTU of AC running to support it. Also, you’ll need about 3 new 20a breakers run to support the electrical requirements for that many rigs.
