[FAQ] Managing FTC related open source projects using the Feathercoin Forum

The FTC Admins / Devs, having tried various other systems, forum, Slack, Trello for FTC to organize projects, we are now using the forum chat (added in the forum redesign for similar purpose).

There doesn’t seem any perfect system for open source projects to manage / communicate. Most are overburdened for contributers with limited time.

Use of FTC chat to "organise projects
The chat format offers the combination of quick, private chat of strategy, research results, questions etc. You can invite anyone who wants to watch the (ups and downs of a project) email list, or contribute to the project.

Use of Development Thread
The results can then be documenting to the (public) FTC forum. This is working the best to get members involved, that we have tried at FTC. People can drop in and help when they can or catch up if they were out of the loop, for the details of a specific project.

This makes, the already technical threads, more easy to follow as well.

Advantages of chat
The chat isn’t perfect, you have to name it as you create it was one problem, but you can then invite further people who can feed back research on questions etc.

Example FTC project case study
So, for instance @Hal wants to create a FTC Faucet project and get some help or sugetions.

Firstly, it may come up or he asks in discusion, “Anyone know about Faucets and could I create one?”

After some positive feed back, @Hal creates a Thread in Technical development, documenting any research done so far.
@Wrapper has shown an interest, so @Hal creates a chat, “FTC Faucet Dev chat”.
Further members are invited or ask to join.

What is an “Official” projects?
A project such as, a Feathercoin Faucet can be put in the FTC forum Developments section. It doesn’t matter that these aren’t “official” FTC developments. Other open source projects can use the FTC facilities to develop FTC related services.
FTC members have a wide experience in projects and that can help a project, for instance, what is the state of art?, any links?, who’s done similar before, help, FAQs or guides that already exist …

What FTC moderators do
Each threading FTC has at least one moderator. Whilst a project is current the moderators can pin it, so it’s more easily found. If it is too diverse, the moderator can move it to “off topic.”

Conclusion, ethics and vibes.
Also, other members may by interested, that the positive karma and kudos of running contributing to FTC projects and publishing / assisting with them is a criteria to be invited to be a FTC moderator and move on from there to FTC Admin.
