Newbie Quick Start Mining Guide

If anyone has any suggestions or changes feel free to let me know so I can implement them!
A section reminding people to exempt their mining program from their antivirus software scans might be a good thing. Plus it’s something where it’ll work for a while and then suddenly stops working for no apparent reason, which can be very confusing for people.

So I am a newbie of sorts. I have a rig that I friend built for me a couple years ago. I was mining LTC with cgminer on give-me-coins. The rigs hard drive crashed and he cloned me a hard drive but it never really worked again. I understand GPU is no longer viable. So I am here following the newbie guide and have downloaded the software and created the bat file.
here
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
nsgminer.exe --neoscrypt -g 1 -w 64 -I 15 -o stratum+tcp://ftc-neo.give-me-coins.com:3336 -u Digging4Gold223.user -p x (or the miner password I created)If I remember correctly I just open the batch file and the nsgminer should run. I must be doing something wrong because I either get a blank windows cmd screen or I get a must specify pool URL
Any help would be appreciated

nsgminer.exe --neoscrypt
Looking at the help, do you have to specify neoscrypt? https://github.com/ghostlander/nsgminer
nsgminer -o http://pool:port -u username -p password -I d,9,9,9

Hi, can anyone help please. I purchased a few thousand feather coins a few year ago. I put them onto a USB stick, for safe keeping. My computer went kaput, and now I am trying to upload from my USB stick to an Android 16gb tablet. Problem is the file manager won’t allow this saying file is too large. Would really appreciate help here…thanks, Alan

@harmoye22 - Hi and welcome to FTC
was it a computer, wallet.dat of feathercoin-qt are not compatible with the mobile wallet.
-
@wrapper Hi , yes it was a laptop. Now have a tablet…Alan
-
Was that enough help? that you need a computer and the wallet.dat off the USB (should be small) contains your FTC keys?
-
@wrapper Hi wrapper, I do have an old computer that works. I have plugged in the USB stick, and it comes up as Chinese type writing. What do I do now ?..Alan
-
@harmoye22 Hi all, have downloaded feathercoin encrypted script, from USB stick to my computer. It is now on my desk top. Anyone know how I can now change the encrypted script back to normal ?..Alan
-
Just copy your backup into %appdata% Feathercoin and replace there the wallet.dat - start up the feathercoin-qt application and log in …
I don’t use windows tho’

@wrapper Thanks wrapper, will try later. A tip on the way, when completed…many thanks, Alan

@harmoye22 Hi wrapper, downloaded feathercoin windows 32 bit. So far no trading number given(strange). Also can’t find …appdata… to paste into…any ideas ?
-
I don’t use windows any more, but isn’t it in users, under your user name? You’ll need to let the wallet sync (past where you bought the coins) to see them. and copy in your wallet.dat.
-
@wrapper Hi wrapper, no button for …users… Strange no feathercoin address came with download, but maybe I’ll have to wait for it to sync. Although it has over 4 years to go, and my internet connection here in France is very slow…regards, Alan
-
“users” is part of windows … on the C: drive?
-
@wrapper Hi wrapper, thought you meant it was in the menu list of feathercoin wallet
-
appdata refers to %appdata% in windows systems, what is a variable defining the directory, where applications store their data.
-
@wellenreiter Hi wrapper, yes I understand. Access to appdata appears via My Computer C drive. Wallet still syncing, 3 years 30 months to go, but still no sign of wallet address…Alan
-
before starting the wallet, did you place the wallet.dat from your backup into the %appdata%.feathercoin directory?
-
@wellenreiter Hi wellenreiter, no have still not put info from my USB stick into appdata, as it seemed pointless with no wallet address. The info from my USB stick is now on my desktop…regards, Alan
