    • A meetup in London?

I want to organise a meetup in London, Oxford meetup happened 4 years ago, Isnt its time to have another one?

Well why do it? well why not.

It doesn’t have to be official.

Is anybody interested in all inclusive (Drinks - Lunch/Dinner) at https://www.thetattershallcastle.co.uk/

      Open to suggestions!

      Thanks

    • RE: FTC development vision

Feathercoin is unique, it has a community, where you can get help, someone is there for you, its like the cheers programme “Pub of the crytocurrency”, “they are always glad you came”.

Over the years i believe so much work by so many dedicated people would have kept this alive. Their commitment, trust attracted me towards this. This much commitment does not happen usually, surely it does not happen in this crypto world.

Well I am no professional at all, barely manage to buy really.

      1. General Community:

For me - I bought the feathercoin, did some trading on bittrex, tried the casino, but in the end it just sits there. i found no purpose for it. Just to keeping on buying it, but there is a limit.

Here are few suggestions where i can help:

Advertising Campaign: FC should get the exposure, more people should know about this.

Advertisement: I have few friends who work on movies etc, i can get an advertisement made in London. (Would write a list of ideas if you guys think it will help the community)

Charities: : Well to buy coffee/ lunch from coins, bitcoins hasn’t manage to do it well (few places in London where you can do this). So maybe FTC can look into somewhere niche, how about concentrating on charities? I know few charities in Essex, I can convince them to accept feathercoins. Basically when they receive any coins, i will give them cash, that is the easiest way i believe. They will be happy to put “we accept feathercoins” signs etc.

Feathercoin Giftcards: Xmas is coming, I could look into creating usual Giftcard (based on Harrods - Gold and Black, something posh), where people can gift say £5, £10 worth of coins. with cheesy tagline “Here are Million Quid Just wait a little longer”.

Feathercoin Book: Maybe a heart to heart story book of past few years to get people feel attached? with all the technical details, how to mine etc etc

      2. For the technical and development Community:

Well with the limited knowledge where i believe i can be of assistance is setting up a Dedicated Feathercoin only pool.

All the servers etc (extended knowledge lol) could be put in Telehouse Canary Wharf, London.

Mining on my own doesn’t really motivate me, so maybe if i do this i could be an active member of the community.

I am happy to help in any of these, or happy for anyone else to do these.

      Thanks

It was so wonderful meeting @AcidD and @ChekaZ, such highly intelligent beings! 80% of the talk went over my head though lol. True power of feathercoin lies in its community and the meetup felt like a community, which is nice and amazing in a way that it doesn’t happen in any other walks of life. It felt close knit. Feels Great to be a part of such a lovely and intelligent community. Next meetup Germany, lll

@Sunbeam17 Interesting thread but not a good idea to start your first post with the link.

Not sure what to make if this rise really, feathercoin, price wise deserves to be much more than 10p so it maybe a realisation in wider community and this just could be accumulated dust been wiped of from the old bronze. Go FTC.

On the other hand such a high rise without any true reason could be seen as something fishy.

@amdd said in Who is buying?:

I googled who owns most feather coins,

Thanks for your reply, Prices are going crazy today, gonna develop a heart condition, i guess its better to have a discipline, not to look at prices everyday, buy once a week whatever the price on payday and analyse in 2020. Then either retire or carry on few years more until mission accompolished (lol).

But i see some crazy coins going up and staying up (not all pump and dump) which have no community, no website etc, who buys these coins or how do people even know about them?

Comparatively Feathercoin should be worth much much more. Why doesn’t it though?

One other thing to add in technical:

well 99.99% of people dont know how to mine. Out of this 1% probably want to mine.

So is it possible to create a Feathercoin gadget? that someone can plug in USB and start mining or maybe a £100 - £200 device which you connect to a monitor and start mining. Mining for novice?

    • RE: Novice building a Mining Rig

      An Update:

Well i went back and forth, whether to do this or not. Financially i think its border line, costs are probably the same to mine, you are speculating on the price what will be few years down the line, but then you can buy the feathercoins now at probably the lowest price its ever gonna be.

Does the mining help the community, initially it does i guess, but afterwards its just competition. Was excited at first but then it seemed sluggish. and wasn’t 100% sure if i will get it running.

But @Lordas came to the rescue, provided me with all the stuff i need, a community feeling arose, End up bying these two graphics cards:

      1. ASUS GTX 1070 8 GB White Graphics Card (DUAL-GTX1070-O8G)

      https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-NVIDIA-GeForce-Graphics-DUAL-GTX1070-O8G/dp/B01IFESATU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1507892458&sr=8-2&keywords=1070+8gb

Why: £380 i think its a good price, good company, good hash rate, and apparently its an overclocked edition, above all it looks fancy (lol).

      2.Asus GTX 1050TI 4 GB
      https://www.amazon.co.uk/NVIDIA-GeForce-EX-GTX1050TI-4G-Express-Graphics/dp/B01M6YD55M/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1507892754&sr=1-1&keywords=1050ti+4gb+asus

Why: £150, Value for money, still 4GB, Also wanted to compare what hash rate i get on this for FTC compared to the 1070, may help in future if i wanted to build a rig or may help other novices.

Lets see how it goes, Seems like fun, Excited Again…

For Other Novices: apart from the top list you also need a processor for your motherboard (i3 pentium £100)

      Ah! A global community!

At this moment lets put the date of meetup as 31st Oct - Halloween! I am sure if we think hard, we will find some similarities.

Gives enough time for more to join, Not long enough that the meetup does not materalise.

    • RE: Feathercoin up 400% in a week

      @gooders

Just a guess but say someone (A) with £100K, he buys buys buys, from 4pa coin to 8p, hoping for other people to join in who (B) even realise it’s p d, they try to make quick profit and buy at 8p. Price goes up to 10p. (A) sells all at 10p, makes a profit on each coin ranging from 2p to 6p in each coin. B who bought at 8p bought something that was worth 4p. of course. it’s easier for me to write whatever I think could have happened, will be miles away from the truth though.

But as feathercoin real worth is not affected in the price, it could all be genuine and some funds/companies etc might just be stocking up for long term.

      100 different possibilities.

    • Feathercoin Hard Fork?

As Bitcoin has many forks Cash / Gold / Diamond Etc.

Will it be beneficial to the feathercoin community or FTC itself in anyway if a team decides to a hard fork? and create another coin?

Not sure if its even possible or financially viable for anyone, are there any advantages?

or is it damaging and derogatory to the community?

      @bluebox

Agree with you on first and second, but the third one: as blockchain is a revolutionary product, not many of us can mine, people who mine I agree they are the true pioneers , but some of us want to be involved in it and part of it. Reason could be for an experience , thrill, amazement, exploration or even exploitation, we would need to put in our hard earned cash for that, it’s like any other investment property or any other invt you buy (Apart from your house that you live in), it could be seen as leeches but the funding helps the blockchain community somewhat.

@ag2288 well yesterday you may have been late to the party but today with altcoins dropping, 30% (call it burst - I have never seen that happen) welcome to the party, best time to invest, tomorrow will be an interesting day, BTC might be 6 or 10, I don’t think it will stay 8. But let me ask my grandma lol

    • RE: BTC bubble bursting and fate of Feathercoin

In my opinion, the price stagnated for a while at around £6K BTC, then the hype of what could happen etc Korea / China etc, kicked in and the price doubled to 12-14K.

Bitcoin was a wonderful thing, but people (well me included) traded the hell out of it, then they did the same to top 200 coins, again and again, ripple at one point being worth £90 billion, to me its - come on - very very inflated.

6 months ago BTC was around 50% of the total cryto market, now its around 35%, when more people started to know about it and started to use the technology, the price went high, money came in the btc (300 - 400 billion), I don’t think many people would have known about neo / stellas / etc to invest directly, out of that billions, money went into alt coins, so that traders can pump and dump it. So what will happen, no one knows, my 85 year old grandma might turn out to be more accurate than the winklevoss twins. Noone can really predict. but that’s not stopping me lol.

Tomorrow: It might go to 15K

      1. people are running out of coins to pump, there are only 1000 coins, everyone catched up on this, if someone made a profit last month, someone made a loss, BTC / Litecoin / Feathercoin even Dogecoin for me they are secure investment. If all fails these wont.

      2. 500 Bn is nothing globally, Trillions of money from institutions hasn’t come in yet, when that happens, god knows.

      3. At the moment its all been hyped, the potential of the technology has not even started and its worth this much, what if when the blockchain truly starts to become the reality.

Tomorrow : It might come down to 6K:

      1. See not many people want to make money by just keeping FTC / BTC, so more and more want to trade, by this the %cap will decrease.

      2. What is the true value of BTC £1 or £1Million?

      3. Govt Bans and Regulations, that should have a big impact, especially if America does something, most of the world will follow.

Conclusion: We are in the middle of a revolution, probabaly only 1% of the population knows about this, be a part of it, whatever wealth we have, put 10% in this, for me these are the secure investment, long term - 2-3 years, in order: BTC / FTC / Litecoin / BCash & Bgold / Dogecoin / TrezarCoin (New but works and potential of growth is higher but so is the risk).

      Hi there

      Waking up from the dead!

Well to tell you the truth i would love to say been busy etc etc, but truth is I have been lazy.

But since you mentioned, felt ashamed, and given it another ago, to my amazement, it is damn easy, Got the wires connected, loaded the windows (bought a USB from ebay), voila i have built myself a PC. Am I officially an engineer now? Now i am downloading the feathercore wallet, but it has been loading since then, i think it will be another day or so.

I have got two cards, as this was a test project, 1050ti and 1080ti, best of both worlds. I will be happy to put the hash and step by step guide with pics once everything is working.

      Thanks for the push.

    • RE: Process from Paper Wallet to Bank Account?

Been Reading about it, I think this is the better way.

Step 1: Lot of fishing sites there, make sure to download from a legitimate source. https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet, Elecrtum I believe is the most trusted one, download, keep safe phrases / passwords.

Step2. Repeat step 1 in another PC. Create another wallet

Step 3. In Step 1 PC, Go to Wallet, Private Key – Sweep, you should get the BTC.

Step 4. Send it to Step 2 PC.

Step 5. Go to https://www.bitcoincash.org/#wallets, Download Electron Cash, very similar to Electrum, Sweep the private key from the paper wallet.

Step 6. Download Electron Cash in the other PC and transfer Bitcoin cash to that wallet.

Step 7. Download https://bitcoingold.org/ Coinomi, Android Wallet on your phone, Set up, choose BTG and sweep the paper wallet key again. Keep this for shopping lol

Step 8. Setup account at Local bitcoins, get verified and start selling and buy 1080ti eventually.

Could someone please see if these are okay steps, You cant lose Bitcoin cash by doing this right?

@j0k3rhd what do you think of this?

    • Process from Paper Wallet to Bank Account?

      Hi there

      Need Help.

How to transfer from old paper wallet (before cash and gold) to Bank Transfer / Cash.

The way I gather it this:

Step 1. Blockchain.info : Create wallet, put your key in, transfer your wallet, transfer BTC and BCH.

Step 2: Then go to coinomi, swipe the old paper wallet and get gold from there to coinomi wallet.

Just needed to confirm that the gold will still be in the old private key? even after transferring the wallet to blockchain, or step 2 should be done first?

Step 3. Go to localbitcoins open account and start selling there, and transfer how much you need from blockchain wallet to localbitcoin wallet.

Q: Arent there any exchange there where you can upload your private key or sell bitcoin and transfer to £ and get the money transferred directly to your account? Do you have to sell to other people?

      Thanks
