Hello, my 7950 is giving me a hard time and any help would be appreciated. About two weeks ago one of the fans stopped spinning. So I called XFX and they responded really quickly. They sent a new heatsink/shroud out and I replaced it. Now, whenever I try to mine and the card hits 75C it shuts down, but the computer is still on. I have tried 3 separate times to remove the shroud and reapply the thermal paste, each time with the same effect.

I now have an RMA number from XFX and will be sending the card out on Monday, but I was wondering if I had possibly missed anything or if anyone else had a similar experience.

I had no problems before the fan died. Any help?

When you removed the old heat sink, did you check to see if there were any additional thermal pads stuck to it. The heatsink usually cools the gpu, ram and VRMs. Depending on manufacturer sometimes they use thermal pads instead of paste that add some thickness.

The temp is usually the gpu temp. So you may find that the VRMs are 100c + hence the crash.
