Need help with wallet for Android
-
*bump* Halp, I’m still stuck! This would be equivalent to restoring a paper FTC wallet! Any tutorials out there I could reference?

I posted on this on the build up to the fork, but as the fork has now happened, just follow the details for importing into the client… Hope this helps…

I want to be able to import my backed up encrypted keys from my android feathercoin app.
Ok just had a quick look, it is in fact a .dat file…So tbh I would just forget the app for now and send the coins to your PC wallet before the Fork.
But if you insist on importing them, it is just a matter of getting the .dat to your PC - I emailed mine tbh as it only had 10 FTC in it…Then backup your existing wallet.dat in %APPDATA%/Feathercoin/ and then move both backup and original to a temp location (or simply rename bak1.dat & bak2.dat and leave where is), then copy over the App wallet.dat which is named by the feathercoin-wallet-keys-date-it-was-created.dat (ie: mine was named feathercoin-wallet-keys-2013-05-22.dat), rename to wallet.dat and open the client up…Job done…But like i say just send them via the network NOW before the fork! Much less hassle :)

Awesome, that helped me out, gonna try it now. Thanks Mark!

Alright, gave it a go, no dice >:( The backup file was *similar* to yours, minus the .dat extension, i.e. feathercoin-wallet-keys-date. The file is a 240 byte file, if that means anything. And again, this is a backup made with the Android FTC wallet. Thanks again for the help.
-
Hmm have you tried renaming to wallet.dat?
Also i take it the file is the one created by the android app, when you chose to export your keys?..Edit: You probably can’t see the extension, just rename to wallet and then copy over as above…
-
Yep renamed to wallet.dat, I think the problem seems to be that the wallet is encrypted? If that’s the case, how would I go about unencrypting the wallet? This sux :( Thanks again.

I think I got it, they had the “import private keys” selection hidden under the “backup keys” menu in the Android FTC wallet…50% me being a noob, and 50% devs hiding that damn selection ;P
Anyhoo, blockchain is syncing, let’s see what happens.

OK good…
I take it you are syncing on your PC now then? -
I synced on my phone, got my FTC back. You said something before about a fork? Should I xfer them to my pc wallet?
Nah don’t want a tip, thanks anyway! 8)
I’m a bit bemused how you synced the wallet on your phone, has the app been updated recently??? Try sending them your PC wallet just to check… -
Yeah the app was updated a week or so ago. You were talking about the 33,000 fork update?
Wallet is working fine, and now I know how the restore works on Android phone :]
Thanks again for the help!
