Ladies, ladies… PLEASE! You’re both beautiful.

No, the question isn’t too difficult, it’s one that’s been addressed already: It doesn’t matter in the slightest if the foundation code for all these coins is the same, as long as what is built on top adds value.

You’re making a straw man argument, and it’s not going to get you the answer your looking for.

Not at all! I was just following up with his analogy and requesting clarification.

It’s a conversation right up until I ask questions that no one has a great (or even subpar, or any at all) answer for, then I am a witless troll because he lacks answers.

+1!

The fastest way to get derailed in crypto-currencies is to read the blather in troll boxes.

You are right, I am confused. Could you please point out one, just one, app (windows, linux, osx, os/2, freebsd, anything) that had 6-10 lines of code changed, with the author then contending that the app was new and different and re branded it, AND then the community accepted it?
Those are not 6-10 lines. They are 6-10 SETTINGS. Huge difference. In the real world those settings make a coin entirely incompatible with another.

I don’t comprehend this superficial idealism for new, new, new. It’s on the Internet. The Internet is not a supermarket. It is a workshop.

If someone wants to work on something, they have to start with something that is close to what they want to do. That means they have to use stuff that’s already out there. Clearly, Bushstar did not want to work alone on it, there OMFGWTFBBQ, he had to release it BEFORE it was so PRECIOUSLY,

@randomdef: You also did not answer a question asked of you in this thread http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?topic=1857.30 about what constructive changes you would make to reward miners.

It may be difficult to accept that others find this scam/copy/theft/crap coin has value, but hey, PT Barnum said there was one born every minute. Aren’t you glad you’re not one of them?

I dont get this whole argument. If you wish to build a car you start with wheels, a frame, and an engine. Why build from the ground up when you can just start with this base (litecoin code.) Its the added features (that may not have been added or even thought up yet) that differentiate this coin from litecoin. If you honestly think that feathercoin is a pointless clone then mine litecoin. Nobody really cares which coin you choose to mine. The reason that people are here is they believe in the coin and that it is going to evolve into something totally different then litecoin.

It seems your big issue is that changes to the coin are being released after the coin was made public not before. I ask what does it matter when things are implemented?

I actually did, before you asked. Feel free to go back through my posts.

You guys are WIZARDS at evading direct questions, shifting left and right, but that elephant remains.

no, not at all. I just asked for clarification on his linux analogy.

I’m sorry that my intellect does not seem to match yours, but suggesting that Bushstar or Justabitoftime give their own coins away is hardly a suggestion I would have thought.

I do of course humbly apologise for misunderstanding your terribly clear post and bow to your superior wisdom as to what should be done with Feathercoin to make you accept and love it, even though it is a red-headed love child of Bitcoin and Litecoin with a penchant for mimicry.

Your question seems predicated on the wrong basis.
Your assumption seems to be that unless you have some awesome thing, you should just sit in a corner and dig through the code with a tiny spoon until it is awesome and then you are allowed to publish it under a name.

But see that would mean you are not allowed to:
Develop in a public group
Announce it to everyone when you begin
Invite people to code with you AT THE VERY BEGINNING
Have fun openly developing

Your standard prevents open development, therefore Bushstar did not follow your standard. New. Does. Not. Matter.

Bushstar had every intention to adapt and change the code, so he changed the name, but he released before he changed it significantly so others could participate.

Your nitpick is plain silly and prevents fun. QED. Your nickname is now, notfundef.

If the discussion is not productive and merely addressing same arguments that have been hashed out before, it is a waste of time.

What I call “new” or anyone else considers “new” is irrelevant to the cryptocoin movement.

The genie is out of the bottle on the concept of a crypto coin.

Litecoin copied bitcoin, feathercoin copied litecoin…end of discussion/criticism.

So funny. Even the endless mentioning of FTC on trollbox is counterintuitive to what they say. lolz… :P :P :P
