Don’t panic!
Now is not the time to be doing anything grand until we have Advanced Checkpointing. There is a good chance that any promotion we put into the coin right now will be met with 51% attacks. These attackers have a lot of hash power and are very familiar with crypto coin software, as a result they have managed to launch some very impressive attacks on several coins, ourselves being the primary target.
Once we have Advanced Checkpointing in place we can get the fanfare going again. This will ultimately be a big win for us as again we will have faced a problem and will have come up with a technical solution to safe guard the future of our coin.
Advanced Checkpointing should be in final testing next week.

And yes i do agree regarding both the part with prioritizing the security of the coin, and also not to attract to much attention to us
(in that scenario i do think that the launch of unocs was at a really bad time. got attention, but no gain).i still feel that there needs to be some discussion regarding organisation of how feathercoin related app development are beeing handled.
As of now i dont think the forum system in its current state is effective. -
Remember, No-one is/was/will-ever-be the ‘leader’, this is a community driven open-source project, as justabit always said ‘if you think you can do a better job, stand up’ < this still stands.
It’s easy to sit back and say this/that and the other, if you want things done differently then it is simple; stand up, make a change and be counted.Not one person could of predicted justabits decision, and justabits decision is exactly that ‘HIS’ decision, if he feels he can better things for all 3 coins by taking a step back then so be it, I’m sticking with Feathercoin and that’s my decision, I’ll support whatever the UNOCS cooperative has to offer as long as it betters both Feathercoin and the Feathercoin community as a whole, this does make me a ‘leader’ it just means I stood up…

As far as transparency regarding Feathercoin development, my particular project [url=http://smsaddress.info/]SMSAddress[/url] is currently in phase 2 testing and has successfully completed transatlantic transactions, the next stage is to get a few more US testers on board and then once testing it completed, release it. I will then work on an online merchant system or at least work with merchants on how they they can use it to accept Feathercoin as it will stand upon release. Then I will work on implementing it all into a viable POS system for use by high-street/real-world merchants.
As bush has already said he is working on the advance check-pointing system, which IMO is more important than any other projects being bantered about at present, as it will bring further strength and security to the coin and as a result bring further reassurance to the community, future merchants and general users of Feathercoin, that quite simply Feathercoin is ‘NOT’ just another alt.
I’m really looking forward to next few months to see what the community/developers bring to further enhance this project, as the last 3 or so have been absolutely amazing, all of this is considering the coin is still so young. 8)

To be fair to Kevlar, I believe he’s referring to services like AWS, which offer scaling on demand. It doesn’t make sense to pay several thousand dollars for infrastructure when you don’t have certainty that it will be used, especially when you’re not sure your product is going to be ready immediately.

I’ve worked on many secure systems where the infrastructure must be located on separate physical hardware for security reasons (so now where talking dedi’s instead of vps/cloud) and more often than not, in a locked cage in a separate area of the DC. Additionally they may need separate physical firewalls to isolate the different tiers of the system. Long and short, they likely need their own rack (or half rack) in a DC and I KNOW that aint cheap.
Again, I don’t know this for certain but it’s just based on MY experience with secure systems. I’m unaware of the compliance requirements for the bridge.
Now, we are wondering rather far from the original topic so can we please bring it back on topic or start a new thread.

[/quote]I’ve done similar work but we’re talking hippa, sox, or pci compliance. Along with fault tolerance management. Though since this is crypto wouldn’t they be making the standard? Their best guess?
