I’m new to crypto currency. Would like any advice on how to exchange USD to Feather Coin! Thanks

About USD->FTC. I would rather suggest you to buy BTC and exchange them to FTC. You can buy BTC at Bitstamp or if you are from Germany, I would suggest you Bitcoin.de.
Otherwise the direct way to get Feathercoin is vircurex.com or coinmkt.com but the volume there is really low so BTC->FTC would be the better choice.

I see you put yourself down as a merchant for the map, what kinds of things do you sell for FTC?
