Greetings!

I have created the new version by forking the official p2pool source and implementing the required changes for feathercoin into it. The plan is to keep up with the p2pool development and always provide an up to date p2pool version as the old version was major version 11 while the current one is major version 13. That’s also why they’re incompatible and won’t connect to each other - the old version is far too old.

How much is “a lot lower” efficiency? I have not recognized much of a difference in efficiency; which is calculated by the number of unstale shares you receive if i am not mistaken.

Regards,
MrSheep

Hi, thx for answer and good work - updating to the newest version is very good - i tryed but no luck so thx very much.
i wanted just an confirmation - you never know and always verify.

now it looks like its OK - just after the switch it was showing not nice numbers but now - 6.8% local DOA, 9.1% network DOA+orphan and 92% Efficiency.

JUST curious - because i just switched i see these two versions running almost same power (oilder even more) - it would be nice to write on bitcointalk and announce this new version of p2pool and force update by all pool owners and ops in order to gain more power on the p2pool FTC network.

what you think?

I think i already announced that on bitcointalk. Also spoke to p2pool.org operator - but he has not updated as of yet. I am currently working on some more interesting statistics for p2pool which would then be an addition on top of the actual source. Do you know any other forums where this information that a new version exists might be useful?

Hi - i am looking forward to see the stats update.

CryptocoinTALK - but i can make the update if you want.

also i would like to reAnnounce on BCT - i can not find it there and i would write Jude (p2pool.org) and ask him for update - usually he is faster then me.

Feel free to announce and ask Jude about it. I already did and he has not updated since. Right now we’re on 8MH/s on the new p2pool. It’s slowly increasing…

Hi, is this why I don’t see the payout address of my p2pool instance on the p2pool.org page? It kind of looks like the two forks are incompatible, can you tell me more?

Hi there,

if you run the updated p2pool version (v13) then your node won’t interconnect with p2pool.org while it is still running the outdated p2pool version (p2pool.org runs v11). You can see your payout address if there are miners using your pool and that have accumulated a number of shares. See http://pool.maeh.org:19327/ - The “Payout if a block were found NOW” lists what would be paid to the pool payout address based on the fee percentage you’ve given. Let me know your pool URL and i have a look.

Regards,
MrSheep

FYI, i updated the p2pool-feathercoin source to the latest p2pool upstream. p2pool-feathercoin is now 13.4.65 and available on github (https://github.com/andreasfaerber/p2pool-feathercoin).
