I have been contemplating building a mining rig but cannot decide if I am better off just buying coins instead …

I have done a little mining with my standard PC and I do enjoy it. The results were not brilliant though because of the dated nvidia gpu.

It is just, no matter how many times I crunch the numbers, I cannot justify the expense of the rig I would need (plus electric costs) vs the cost of just buying the coins. Especially at today’s prices …

Could somebody give me an example of a budget rig (with costings), with the approx return of FTC …

I am just not sure if I am really doing my sums properly lol … ultimately I would actually get more enjoyment from mining my coins.

I know it’s asking a lot but I would appreciate the advice if you can spare the time and your knowledge

      :)

My system if i dont remember uncorrect cost me 40000NOK which is about 5700$ (replacing it now).
With these rigs i mine coins worth around 300$ pr day (have taken electrisity into account which i pay 0.15 dollar pr kW for).

ROI time in this day and age == 19days!
Anything from there is pure profit. If it all tanks, i also have equipment to sell on the used market… betting on the exchange however…

I also gotta add that im a crappy invester, never done a good deal on my sellings/buyings ::)

If you wanna get rich quick and dont want the hassle of building miners/checking on them from time to time. exchange gamble is for you. however.that could swing very badly to…

Well if you have paid your full investment back in 19 days, and are mining $300 worth of FTC per day, then you are not such a crappy invester afterall !

Well done ! & thank you for the reply to my post :)

            +1 to svennand.

Also remember though that in about a week, all the new miners will be up and running and the difficulties will sky rocket. That $300 pr day will become a LOT less in the very near future.

Is there a way to work out what the next difficulty will be and when? I tried googling it but cant find the answer.

Lol - this price spike has seen an INFLUX of noobs buying rigs to mine " free money". You can’t find GPUs (at least the good ones) and “proper PSUs” are like rocking horse shit.

It will go up and down as all the prices change but overall it will go up. Long term cannot be reliably predicted but experience tells me. A week ago I was mining $900 per day, now I’m half that. Basically DONT buy a rig based on today’s prices, they wont last. You could however speculate and mine now and hold until the next boom…

okay thanks for explaining. im also a noob miner lolz, but never bought my pc specially for mining. i bought it for gaming, and i don’t have that much time for it now. mining suits me as it’s just as exciting, and it can run unattended ! i think i have a winner.
