Let the democracy misunderstandings begin. #popcorn.
It’s not a democracy it’s a dialogue.
I’m playing off the predictable direction management discussions tend to go.

I really do think there has to be a place for this in the redesign.http://youtu.be/0gNJio-Mau8
It’s too good not to be included somewhere. All props to iawgoM. It’s amazing.
I agree completely. I added the video to my Crypto’s playlist on Youtube a few days ago.
Hmm…just one thing, and I’d like your advice about it - the background music…I don’t really have permission to use it, because first time I made this video there weren’t many people around here. But if you want this to be advertised a bit more, then I’ll have to change it…to something. Don’t wanna get sued or something :-[
Here you go!

Yeah, either that or someone could produce something simple for it. I have stuff I could give for this.
But it would be easier to use creative commons stuff but yeah. I was unaware of the music…
Youtube is starting to clamp down on copyright claims and content ID matches now, so I don’t blame you.
In regards to updating the music, I think the feature inside youtube allows you to swap out the audio for creative commons stuff (I think its CC… not 100%).
I’ve done it for my video’s in the past. Load your video then there should be an “Audio” button, a music note, directly under the vid. (Provided your logged into youtube)
But yeah, if you redo the audio from an external source, just upload it next to the old one and links can easily be changed etc.

Off to work… but a thought that came to mind last night…
Is it worth instigating a Github approach if we only have 2 or 3 folk who have expressed a direct wish to create and have a hands on approach to designing the new site? I feel the best route is to set up a WP or Joomla installation for each person wishing to design the new platform and then present them all to the community… then create a dialogue for moving forward.
Any thoughts?

Why don’t we crowdfund an advertising campaign? :)

Why don’t we crowdfund an advertising campaign? :)
I love this idea. 8) -
I think, the way to go is like:
- which functions are needed?
- Forum
- news area
- wiki
- faq
- Market???
- ???
- ???
- which platform to be used
- joomla
- Drumla?
- xxxx
- yyyy
- theme design to be used
- basic theme
- modifications
- customization
The status of the different action items could be updated in this thread, together with some examples, e.g preview of the layout and theme planned.
unfortunately I have no real idea, how the work could be spread :(

Why don’t you guys use Zoho? You can see and review things someone else made and keep things clear:
Very nice work iawgoM. While it’s always better to use royalty free stuff, I wouldn’t be too worried. If you have used some third party content, it will normally either go undetected and not cause a problem, or the owner can sent a notice to you which you can accept acknowledging the use of third party content. This will enable them to track the stats of the video, and maybe also ad some adverts to it.

Maybe it’s an idea to add a page named ‘myth busters’ and explain in detail (like in a FAQ) all the misunderstandings about ftc.
Or we could just call it FAQ’s?

Hey, web design guys, Heeeelp…,
even I could do this if I could find time. We need to get Web control through Git hub, before updating much more of the Feathercoin.com
But, input proposed web page redesigns for the “About Page” updates and Entimp can look at them? or the forum can start discussion of details… Support is over run and the next influx (I predict) will be even bigger, with a higher proportion of cryto-newbies…
Mode of Failures
: New members can’t find downloads
: Some new members do not read or find the forum rules
: Some members ignore rules unless specifically policed.
: Some people have downloaded “old wallets” from other web sites.
: Stress volunteer moderator support
: More new members aren’t Geeks.Cause of Failure :
: Not obvious you have to press the Feathercoin icon, to download the software Wallet.
: Download is at the bottom of page, “About page”, so they are not easily visible to new members.
: Forum rules are not prominent enough
:New forum members have increased at a greater rate than even I predicted,
(and all due to the Feathercoin Team & forums, trustworthness and good work!, not scams, pumps or swarms!)Suggested possible Maintenance tasks:
: The forum “About box” page should be given a quick update, to help solve new member issues that have arisen.
: Software Downloads should be prominently at the top, maybe in a fixed frame, of the “About Page”.
: A brief outline, or a link to the full forum rules should be placed prominently in “About” -
I fully support Wrappers’ statements.
It will become a problem to support new members, if we can’t reduce the number of basic questions and problems described.
Regarding downloads, why not follow the standard design of many web sites and have a menu item ‘Downloads’ right on top of the pages?
-
Just out of curiosity, what’s
Web control through Git hub
…
Yes/ish : Software Downloads should be prominently at the top, maybe in a fixed frame, of the “About Page”.
People might want to read through the About section and when they get to the bottom if they’ve like what they read, having the link right there once done reading acts as an incentive for the ultra lazy.
Yes : A brief outline, or a link to the full forum rules should be placed prominently in “About”
Hrm : have a menu item ‘Downloads’ right on top of the pages?
The download link is on the main page in plain sight.
Having it down the bottom of the about section is fine in my opinion but with that said, maybe make the About tab a drop down like the tools tab.
In the about tab, put in the download link, forum rules link, and maybe an extended FAQ (The latter not terribly important IMO but would be a nice addition)
-
Just to let you know the current ‘tools’ drop down menu on the front page appears behind the YouTube video when viewed in IE. It doesn’t look too good.

I quite liked aspects of this rackspace.co.uk website. Maybe a Jig of “design Kerppazz” is needed, but otherwise, clean and easy to negotiate…
The reason why we use Github to control projects are.
1. It is a easy way to control project long term.
2. It is the standard for open source projects
3. Feathercoin already controls all software projects there
4. You can easy have prototypes on Github each developer has there own “Pull” of the project. So it fills all your development control needs.
5. It helps Feathercoin enable its goal to be more inclusive in technical development. It means hundreds of people can work on a project at once (Like Litecoin) there changes are pulled into the Master file, controlled by the Admin. Whilst maintaining sanity checking and security.
6. All the prototypes are open and available for download.
7. It is the standard development environment for Litecooin and Feathercoin already.
8. All “work done is the same”, Github just “controls the differences” when changes are made, so you can roll back, for instance, or reject a trojan patch, which is a well known security risk.
I could go on.
-
I fully agree,
even there are only a few people willing to help in the moment, the number of participants may rise and version control becomes a nightmare. Not mentioning the coordination and integration work needed to merge different changed without a tool like Github.
There is no way around using Github
-
Nice project.
Keeping the number of active developers low is actually a good approach. To manny people working on the same project usually leads to chaos.
Keeping the front page welcomming, yet modern and informatice are indeed good intentions.
Good luck!
