hi all ive been mining on d2 pool with cpu pooler, i want to buy a GPU because i have a crappy dell card that wont hash it ;)
i am a glassblower (artist) w.o a lot of money to invest…also old comp sci student and i love the cc.
can someone please recommend a card that would help me get a few coins per day instead of per blue moon? :)

any links or info would be appreciated…
working used cards would be interested in too.
thanks all! such a useful forum :)

        Hi there.

I guess you’d have to tell us what your budget is specifically for what you’re wanting to do. Otherwise the answer is too open-ended.

        How much can you spend?

Buy one of these cards from either Sapphire, Gigabyte, MSI or ASUS:
Stay away from XFX, PowerColor or Club, these are cheaper but not very good for mining.

          R9 270
          R9 280x
          R9 290
          R9 290x

See some other post regarding rig hardware.

I’m getting 480KH/s from each of my two Powercolour R9 270x’s.

That’s more than any of the 270x’s on https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison

I’m also very happy with all my PowerColor cards. Started with 2x PCS+ 7950’s running sweet and stable for 2 months now.

And last week I returned 3x MSI 280X’s Gaming Edition and replaced them with 3x PowerColor 280X OC Turbo Duo running undervolted to 1.03v @ 700Kh/s each for 4 days cool & stable now + they come with a sexy black alloy backplate :D

So far I’m very pleased with Sapphire and PowerColor and dissapointed with MSI =(

Event though I dont have any ASUS cards right now, I’d say you cant go wrong with them either.

Personally, if you’re on a budget … I’d recommend you to start with a regular 270 b/c which will (according to owners here on ftc forum) easily do 400+ Kh/s.
They only have 1 power connector, allowing you to upgrade to 4 cards on any decent ~750Watts gold PSU andt hey only require about ~130Watts per card =)
