Hi, I just want to know if feathercoin could share the same fate as bitcoin has these last few weeks. I looked on Google but really couldn’t find any indication. I’m not to we’ll versed in the lingo or technical know how, but would the advanced check pointing have any impact on preventing these kind of incidents? Or is that something different all together? Thanks.

Advanced Check pointing is something different, it is used to prevent 51% attacks, which is where a person or group of people have enough processing power to gain 51% of a coins total network hashrate and then hijack the blockchain.

Zulumuzungu calm down and read some of the replies to your other threads. Spamming is frowned upon here.

My understanding of it is … malleability is not a problem with Bitcoin. There is nothing “wrong” with bitcoin or any clones regarding malleability.

However, merchants/apps do have something “wrong” with their system and it’s to do with how they handle teh “malleability”.

So, if a company is claiming malleability in Bitcoin is causing problems with their funds … what they’re really saying is, “we are incompetent” or “we’re lazy” (see Mt.Gox – because they knew about this problem in THEIR system years ago and did nothing about it) or “we can’t afford to pay someone to update our code”.

They are the ones that need fixing, not Bitcion or any clones code.

Here is an excellent discussion on it …

Just noticed a fix for “large merchant” Transaction Malleability has now been added to the standard Bitcoin base client. I don’t know if that covers any of the similar BerkleyDatabase issues?.

Re: [litecoin] Upgrade code base to Bitcoin 0.9v to fix Transaction Malleability, etc. (#135) space.gif

                Warren Togami to litecoinshow details

There will be an update to both 0.8.x and 0.9.
