Tbh i really dont care what litecoin does, they didnt invent scrypt anyways, and as of today they are like all the other alt coins that use scrypt (still this is based om my opinion). Their only advantage is that they are like mt gox, when crypto gets mentioned litecoin tags along with the bitcoin name.

Please do not get affended, this is just my perception on the matter ^-^

Yeah, FPGA sure was sweet back in the SHA256 times before the asic came along and ripped em an new one, i seem to recall people converting em into mining scrypt, but that it wasnt at all worth doing cause low hashrate/high power consumption.

They will still face the same issue with how the algo/decryption work, for example, put the size of the algo above the size of the internal memory cache on an CPU, and you make it kinda useless as CPU is an serial processing unit. Then again you can reformulate that the other way around making serialized process with fast connection to mem an better value, and making those 2048 stream processors (7970/280X) basiclly running idle or the work cant be devided properly among the “cores”.

Theres alot of different ways to make it perfect for one or the other.

As of now you have the CPU camp, the ASIC camp, The scrypt-Asic camp, FGPA camp (basiclly dead at this moment though), and the GPU camp.

Now my recent experience is that the GPU camp seems to be able to handle the obstacles on way more different algo than any of the other equipment. Just look at Nvidia and how it has progressed in regards to handling different algos, better performance etc. all without having to reinvest. My bet at least is still GPU.

And at the end of the day, if everything fails, at least you have equipment worth more than just beeing used as an paperweight.

I for example have ROI’d all my cards, so everything from now is just gravy. The question is can i afford to reinvest one more time?

If i do im sure what camp im gonna reinvest in 8)

So, I gotta ask you Svenn. If you had $50k to invest, how would you invest it? At the moment I’m spending a bit on Bitcoin ASIC mining, a bit on gridseed ASICs and a bit on more GPU miners…

i would leave 10k to hire me some extra programming skills and get some of my ideas of the ground.

the rest i would use to create an 750ti hashing farm.

What coins are using the keccak algo?

Haha, just saying ^-^ Maxcoin where great earned 3 bitcoin in 3-4 days or something ;)

Now its just terrible. 0.09BTC pr day at current rates with my 17Mhash scrypt hashrate

                              Very True :-)

I agree with you now after doing some poking around, GPU mining all the way, screw Scrypt ASICS…

                                You tease!

Tbh i got no clue at this point in time. Have had three days where im been busy with other stuff

The market is so rapidly changing and you need to check several times pr day to get your barings straight.

One thing for sure, i have higher confidence in feathercoin and those other longrunners than all those bloody crapcoin coming out there.

The amount of new coins coming out daily now is just ridiculouse, i also think alot of the overall lowering of coin values are an direct connection to this.

                                Where will it end?

Take spaincoin for example, hit exchange two days ago, if id mined from the start i would get 0.7BTC pr day, but by the time you are able to redirect your miners and get an pool paying out for blocks its to late.

now its nearly worthless. Which is kinda understandable, my god 50% premine. And people buy into this? ???

That kimoto gravity well diff target makes it alot harder to coinjump to since the diff off the coin can adjust so rapidly.

For now im just stable mining Myrcoin (skein, that uses less power and generate less heat), selling em pr day and cashing out in btc that i can buy ftc for :)

It’s a bit tricky with the 7950 and 7970 when the cooling breaks since the options for after market cooling is almost slim to zero.

However, the Prolimatech MK-26 actually works like a charm! Running it on my asus 7970 DCII since the original fan went awol the same way as described here.

I’m running this bad boy package:

                                  http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-032-TL&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=787

Keeps the temp about 10 degrees celsius lower than asus DCII cooling :)

Do you know where to get them here in the americas? thanks buddy

                                    Hey everybody,

To my surprise two fans one in each card ran out. And looks like the same its about to happend on the other two cards. The fans are barely moving, have any of you had any problems like this before, and do you guys know is there a way I can get a replacement from AMD?

                                    thanks a bunch!

Dude, the same thing happened to me, I bought new 7950 Sapphire with this “Vapor-X Cooling”…and let me just say, it’s a little bull-doo-doo.

At first, for about 6 months, the cards performed well…I was getting 630 KH, after that…the fans started making weird noises and stopped working…Luckily I bought them from Amazon (direct from them and not via a re seller) …Amazon refunded me the full amount for the four cards I bought.

I’ve now gone to MSI 280x, for the same price and get 720Kh/s per card.

Moral of the story…Buy from amazon, they love to love you.
