I was thinking about the DGC dev who had his coins stolen. People were criticising the dev for his lack of security and some said that he did not encrypt his wallet. I personally imagine that he did encrypt his wallet and that his pass phrase was lost to a keylogger.

As I worked in IT for many years I saw a lot of computers with keyloggers and this is something I worry about. I have kids who are a common source of compromised computer. To secure my emails, online storage and such I use 2FA TOTP. This is Time Based One Time Password. You may use this on your trading exchange where when you login you have to type in a number from Google Auth. Banks use this with the little hand held devices they send out to customers so they can login.

Adding 2FA TOTP instead of the pass phrase in Feathercoin would surely be a big improvement in security and might have saved the DGC dev their coins. I imagine this must have come up at the Bitcoin forum and I will take a look to see what the obstacles are and the reasons it does not have such a feature to protect users.

I’d love to see 2FA on the feathercoin wallet.

Just tried googe authenticator yesterday for bitcion.de It’s more convenient that sms or email based transaction numbers

Also shouldn’t be to complicated to implement
