Since Kevlar’s link seems to be going to some Raspberry Pi guide of some sort of document unrelated to the project and I’ve not heard from him since… July…? I’m redeploying a clone of his implementation for Feathercoin on this:

      http://mercbay.com/

I still think Feathercoin cost is too valuable for burning, but something has to be up for proof-of-concept.

I may ad-support it. I may not. I may make a tab off to the side to ad-support a faucet so that people can make submissions without cost. I don’t know. I’m just getting it done.

      It’s not up yet.

dns issues and digitalocean is being a poophead

it’ll be up in a few hours

Thanks a lot, this project is to valuable to fade away.

Are we turning our blockchain into the new pirate bay? Maybe choose a different coin? Phoenixcoin perhaps?

Not sure why this is my reaction. I love the project and pirate bay. I may make a donation to your faucet. :)

No, I feel the same about FTC, I don’t necessarily want it used for this purpose. BUT it’s the only implementation in the wild I’ve seen work. That proof-of-concept is necessary to show people what I’m talking about when discussing it --since Kevlar’s site went down I’ve had nowhere to point them to.

I’m planning to push on other coins with established blockchains, middling hashing power, mostly socially abandoned. Fedoracoin and Mooncoin are good candidates. Problem is, I’ve never been able to get anything other than FTC to work. Some collaboration on this would be necessary.

              Yes Yes Yes

When I found out about PB I was telling everyone at work, “Told you so… Told you Link would be important”

Ultimately I would like to see Link Search and Publishing as a plugin. Liz plans on getting a new core implemented soon which has a new plugin ability.

Also a stand alone program would be very important to have available. By having the only method of searching and publishing been via a website… well, its no better really then the pre-existing system.

                  One last note:

Link will be required for an idea been thrown around.

A free, open source, decentralised p2p, content distribution and monetisation platform.

I’ll let people think about that but I have some pretty solid idea’s… Zerodrama and I had been brainstorming this and a few things a number of weeks ago. Bringing back link was one of em.

There are legitimate uses for torrents too. But I’m concerned that we could make our technology scary. Perhaps this is something sidechains should be used for?

Technology will always be scary at first.

What I am suggesting though, is what will legitimise the torrents network. Currently it is mostly used for pirating. If we can change that. Wow.

                      edit

It will be massively complicated i understand, but Rome and such. It would need a rep system maybe tied in with white addresses(PGP based or maybe using open auth as an additional alternative)

You know my views on this, there is certainly a legitimate use of the technology but I can hear the axe being sharpened because we cannot provide safeguards.

There are so many coins that one more customised for this purpose won’t hurt. It will get a good deal of attention from media and lawyers, so I prefer not to get FTC, PXC, etc. involved with it directly.

Merged mined sidechain for this purpose. Keep all the scary stuff off the coin’s blockchain.

Does this mean I should keep one of my scrypt ASICs? Lets start a new coin Torrentcoin?

ie. very very low min fees, Link in wallet, fully decentralised, forum in wallet, bitmessage in wallet etc…

Downloading blockchain on my droplet. After it completes it’ll be searchable again:

                                      http://mercbay.com:1337

Had a hell of a time trying to make it work on a “fresh” droplet but cloned the old tippingintensifies one and got it to work.

Will make direct port linkage when I get home and update other things as necessary.

Just a quick note, I can not access the site yet. When you expect it to be live?

                                          I have 100Mh/s worth of scrypt asics…

We could launch the coin then fork it to Neo/PoS.

Call it a side project to play with the technology. 0 intention on wasting time getting it listed on exchanges etc.

ghostlander, would that be separate enough?

Never mind… If it can be done and if i try organise it, i’ll just do it well outside of the ftc/pxc/ufo/NeoScrypt network/forum/community etc.

well what about the stealth transactions?

There’s no “Audit Key”… How is having truly anon tx’s any different in terms of bringing negative attention…

                                            edit

If we don’t apply “safe guards” to stealth transactions, then I don’t see this “content platform” been any worse. Infact, there will be safeguards…

When it was clear we were getting sx:tx’s without an Audit Key, I accepted it. But I assumed that it also meant that we have chosen a path.

I was against stealth tx’s at the start.

I am in your boat MrWyrm but it’s either all or nothing here. Audit Key or we are going underground.
