Just wondering, but how possible would it be to merge Folding@Home calculations with Feathercoin block hashing?

I’m sure you’ve all seen the topic, but if there’s a way to even use some of our hashing power mining FTC to go towards Folding the same way you can merge mine coins, not only can we feel good about making a difference but it will give us some more desired publicity as well. Again, I have no clue how difficult it is to do this, just curious as to what it would take to do something like that to an existing coin. Especially since we have all this hashing power, but as many people have said about cryptocoins, the hashing power isn’t really going towards doing much.

        It’s not a combinations, it’s either or.
Protein folding and hashing algorithms are pretty different.
Protein folding is for no ‘monetary’ gain to yourself, it’s donating your hardware to researching Proteins. Like, curing cancer per say.

Okay I see, so it’s like SHA256 vs Scrypt, Folding uses something different?

                You’re more than welcome aysyr.
I actually spent most of my earlier days doing Folding, even when bitcoin was around. Although, back then, and similarly now, I was more for communities and helping than profit. :P

It’s great to have guys like you, bushstar, justabitoftime and others like you guys supporting Feathercoin :) Makes it more than just a pump and dump. I’m with Feathercoin in the long run, but I also wanna save up some in hopes of helping out my parents with finances. But yea, it would be a lot more satisfying knowing hashing power is making a difference too. If that Curecoin actually gets released I might put half my power there and the the rest on FTC.

That sounds pretty admirable to me!

I also think, if it isn’t too difficult to implement.
A league chart should be released for those who Curecoin and Feathercoin mine, or even those who do/use Folding@Home too. And to have reward incentives or weekly rewards to those who are seen to be proving help/work towards charitable orginsations and workings.
People work harder and better when there are incentives, it might be wrong but it’s very very true :P

                      Thanks! haha

And that’s true. Someone could make a new pool, or use an existing pool, and use any extra from pool fees towards those rewards.
