A good read and I agree with most points there. But I can’t help but think a lot of people will drop FTC once it’s difficulty surpasses LTC. Sure LTC is harder to mine, but there’s more profit in it for casual miners.

If FTC difficulty was the same as LTC you would be able to mine four times the amount of FTC, even at the double the difficulty you will be able to mine twice as much. So providing the price tallies well with this, miiners may choose to hedge one-another with both.
Either way it’s certainly going to interesting.

It isn’t a matter of coin number or difficulty. The currency is very new and may adopt interesting features quickly to gain advantage over LTC and others. It’s got enough attention already, so let’s see.

It is when you are mining for pure profit! Hence why the network hash rate has almost halved.
I’m still all in on FTC though.

Most of those who mine for profit have switched their miners today after FTC difficulty increase to 188. Some are back to LTC, some have started to mine CNC, BTB or whatever. That’s all right. If FTC continues with innovation, it will be fine.

I agree, adoption rate & innovation for FTC is amazing, and the removal of micro-transactions from BTC as of the 15th May can only be a plus for all valued alt-coins. 8)

Well, 0.0005 BTC/kb is expensive already even without that Gavin’s patch blocking transactions below 54 uBTC. OTOH, their blockchain has doubled in size since December.
