Unfortunately all Altcoins are tied to the Bitcoin exchange rate. Therefore if Bitcoin goes down, Altcoins go down. Or to be more specific: Feathercoin goes down.

Litecoin on the other hand has been pretty stable the last couple of days, with LTC/USD always around 2.7.

Conclusion: We have to convince major exchanges to do direct FTC/USD trades and show direct FTC/USD exchange rates.

So much for the Winklevoss’ investment and starting a Bitcoin trust… it’ll just make BTC look bad in front of everyone now that its price is plummeting ;)

Bitcoin is entering the next phase of its life where is will mostly just be transaction based rather than miner based and run 100% by ASICs. It is a smart thing to decouple alt coins from it though. Let them free float in the economy instead of being linked to BTC.
