Solo mining questions

Is solo mining practical now with this coin? If so, any tips to be shared about best settings etc?

To answer your question you really need to give us more info. What kind of hashpower do you have? will you be full time etc.
IMHO if you have under 5MHs then pool mining will probably provide you with a much more reliable income. That said you could get lucky with 1MHs and make a fortune.
What are you mining with?
Also, in regard to settings, again - every rig is different so there is no “Best setting”. Give us some more info about your setup and then we can help. ;)

[/quote]I have 4 x 7970’s, can use full time. Fine with I use Bitdefender antivirus and it flags and autodeletes the mining executable file linked to in the download link. Is there a safer link?

Quite a few av packages see wallets as unsafe but it can be ignired if you are using the link above.
As for the 4 7970’s, you are likely in the 3MHs range. Personally i would pool mine with that. Your block rate would on average be 1 block every ~3 days. Take the variance in to account too and it could be a week+ before you get a block.
