I think in the near future the bitmessage protocol will be able to transfer whole webpages and host
decentralized communities and marketplaces …

Here is a video where the bitmessage protocol is used via a proxy to transfer a whole webpage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy1z61VS5U0

When our feathercoin would be able to be anonymous and not just pseudonymous
(f.e.: ZeroCoin http://spar.isi.jhu.edu/~mgreen/ZerocoinOakland.pdfs)
it would be the first choice to fit this new concept of real decentralized global trading.

What u think ?

Cheers.

Perhaps interesting too,
here is a reddit post from the owner of https://coinapult.com on the subject “Altcoin adoption”.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1rjv6l/my_response_to_a_litecoin_advocate/

And yeah ZeroCoin is just an idea, perhaps there will be more,
it’s about adding features, being different and give the altcoin a true reason to exist.

Cheers.

1. Lack of anonymity is not Feathercoins current barrier to adoption.

2. Your argument falls down when you don’t know any of the myriad reasons why alternate coins exist - Or how important it is to just implement current software updates. To secure a fiercely fought network, in the case of Feathercoin.

Its not that I don’t like the idea, Zerocoin is just one of dozens of good ideas. Alt currency is still catching up on peripheral developments that are already available open source from Bitcoin protocol and could “easily” be adapted first.

Feathercoin is forced to take on trust Bitcoin and Litcoins priorities, and testing as they control the protocol. Feathercoin was also set up under that protocol.

We also have to make sure Feathercoin specific features are added and don’t break other stuff. However, most people on this forum will have Litecoins and Bitcoins. I myself have contributed issues and testing to Litecoin.

The development would be more quickly implemented, if it was system that could be used by any coins. You could just transfer any of your coins though Bitmessage via Zerocoin if you wanted to increase your anonymity.

Otherwise, develop as a patch that can be added to any coin and the “user could choose to adopt”, if they needed it. This would mean we could not be accused of deliberately encouraging money laundering and open ourselves to attack by “government agents”, which is my main concern about promoting additional anonymity as a “internal” major feature.

Not that i know … http://zerocoin.org/index.html
They are still looking for a coin which is willing to implement their protocol.

How about the feedback section, lots of members loved the idea of adopting anonymity, it was voted up to the top, which should make it prio #1.

And here some talk of Ian Miers:

I mean how do we get a feedback of the feathercoin community ?
Whats the prio #1 thing to implement … ?

For me anonymity would be the killer feature.

Cheers.

The Feathercoin protocol is established, and we have to stick with that now for consistency. Even if there is an emergency protocol change, we will need miner approval to implement a network update.

One idea Feathercoin members could assist, would be to fork Bitcoin to BitFeather. A Sha256, ASIC friendly version of Feathercoin.

1. Test ACP against ASIC attack.
2. Produce an ASIC competition to Bitcoin, that newbies could mine at lower difficulty.
3. Introduce and test new feature i.e. Zerocoin.
4. Train and help new Devs get into Github, patch required Feathercoin changes.

Other coins are going to be developed, whatever people think, it is inevitable. This would mean the Zerocoin development would be community driven.

If Zerocoin, or other experimental features are a success and bug fixed in BitFeather we can then propose a moving it over to feathercoind.

I’d just Fork Feathercoin, then reverse the scrypt changes. This would mean it includes all Litecoin Patches automatically.

We could also implement some other ideas to prevent attacks,

I would like to see “three temporal zone averaging block time for difficulty change”
One minute block time.
Proportional fees, 0.005% ,
no dust fee payment.

and any other “enhancements” being considered that other members have previously suggested.

It could be open Test networked first to iron out which features are “safe” for first release …

Feathercoin is a community development, unfortunately, just voting does not get things done. Volunteering, doing the work and adding the patches will make it happen.

We are currently very much in the implementation phase of the software development cycle with our main product feathercoind and feathercoin-qt. We also have ancillary development of Market, Escrow and the forum already to cover (just from my knowledge).

I consider Feathercoins highest priority is UKMark’s SMS payment system to create a secure fair currency for the 3rd World.

Without the community, pools, explorers, merchants and miners there would be no coin. So you can see it is a massive job to do already.

It is obvious that bug fixing and implementing the updates we have already done with version 0.8.5 is going to be the highest priority. Although forum support has taken all a lot of our time when over 2000 members just joined in the last couple of weeks.

Unless we need to fix a “Very significant known problem” it is ill advised to make other major changes to what has got to be :

A banking level secure, but open currency system.

Now that’s something that’s sorely needed.
