\[solved\] Sync & transfer issues \* First sync \* blockchain operation Transaction
-
First of all, hi!
I couldn’t resolve my problem after hours of searching, so I registered as this really does seem like a great community.
I’ve installed the client from the frontpage (Windows 8.1). Opened up the client, copied my address so I could transfer some to it, which I did. However I see that my wallet and last transaction is “out of sync”, the number of connections in the debug window states “0”.
When I search for my address in the explorer it says that 1 transaction is done and the correct amount of FTC is there.
So If I back-up my wallet.dat file and reinstall the client to see if it resolves the sync issues, would that mess things up because of the “out of sync” thing? (I came across somebody saying they lost their coins because they transferred when it was out of sync. But that can’t be right can it?)
Hope that makes sense. I just don’t want to do a noobie boo boo.
btw I’ve had the client open for hours.

Hi!
First of all you dont lose your coins if you receive coins and your wallet isnt synced! If you backup your wallet, you’re backup up your private key, which is wallet independet, the wallet is only there to add up your adresses and show a total value out of the blockchain. So basicly your wallet doesnt hold any coins.
Have you tried to portforward TCP: 9336-9337 that helps sometimes to get connections to the network.
First try to portforward, if that doesnt help, try to redownload the client and load your backup wallet.dat into the new wallet.

Thanks for confirming and replying so quickly! Very much appreciated!
As for the sync thing I’m not at home so that must be it. I’ll have to wait until I get home on Sunday. However I plugged my phone in and it started syncing straight away. Yay! I didn’t let it finish as I didn’t want to max out my monthly data cap. But it works, and that eases my mind a lot.
Thanks again!
