I posted the below message earlier today in the General section as it is apparently required for new members to make a first-time posting there. I haven’t received any response so I am repeating my query here as it falls within the mining topic.
I joined yesterday and am absolutely clueless about crypto currency in general and FTC in particular. It appears that I am able to mine but I am seeing “zero hashes per second” which can’t be good. I’m *assuming* that I have set things up correctly as I finally no longer see “out of sync” in connection with my wallet or transactions. I noticed a posting(s) regarding “gcminer” and a file containing that string as part of its name is nowhere to be found on my computer, if this info is helpful. I also have read Internet postings advising against conducting mining on laptops (my hardware is basic and not some tripped-out gaming rig). Any advice would be appreciated before I put a rope around my neck. Thank you!
