Damn those ASICs!

So apparently [url=https://alpha-t.net/]these[/url] guys are working on a Litecoin ASIC miner, which is capable of hitting 500 KH/s per chip(Probably 10 chips on the actual block, which would clock it at 5MH/s).
This is most likely vaporware, but considering how Scrypt was designed to be GPU proof(We know how that turned out… Never underestimate the power of thousands of hackers poring over code), I think I might be tempted to pre order one, if the price is the sub 1500$ range(I can currently build a 4 MH/s rig for the equivalent of 1800$, so for a better ROI, this thing should be both cheaper and faster).
There is one thing that it would do if ASICs are widely available:
Network hashing would increase exponentially, until 51% attacks will no longer be an option.So what do you guys think?

Well they would not be an option unless the people doing the 51% had asics also.

lol. We have 6 months apparently until they hit the market. even then it will be a few months until its noticeable. still have great times!
