Are you using the MSI 7950 Twin Frozer III? This might be interesting to you.

Following on from my poll on whether stability or hashrate was a priority (http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,5607.0.html), I revisited my cgminer.conf file to see if I could up the hashrate and keep the rig stable (stability defined as the rig running for at least 2 days without issue).

I was running stable at 1.6MH/s.

I changed a multitude of settings, googled them all, tried other people’s settings, changed almost everything in the conf file, but it made no difference. The main frustration was that GPU 0 was running at about 650-690KH/s, while GPU 1 & GPU 2 were hovering at around 450-550KH/s each.

The recommendations I’ve seen for these cards (and what’s been stable for me) is to use the following intensity:

“intensity” : “20,20,20”

So I asked myself if it was possible that GPU 0 was hogging something? I tried the following setting to see what would happen if I limited GPU 0:

“intensity” : “19,20,20”

Hey presto! It worked! Now all 3 cards are running at 630-680KH/s and I’m getting an overall hashrate of 2MH/s. Temp for all cards is 58C-68C (I’m very happy with that, but bear in mind that it’s an open rig in my cold attic/loft). So, if you’ve got a rig with 2 or more MSI 7950s Twin Frozer III, you could give it a try.

I’m giving it 2 days running to make sure it’s still as stable as the old settings (it should be - it’s the only change - but you never know). I’ll report back if there’s any issues.

Interesting, cheers for sharing, I have two Sapphire 7950 Dual x running at 650kh/s.

What clock / memory speeds are you using?

“thread-concurrency” : “22400,22400,22400”,
“shaders” : “1792,1792,1792”,
“gpu-engine” : “0-1100,0-1100,0-1100”,
“gpu-memclock” : “1500,1500,1500”,

Cheers for that, I’ll have to compare to mine.

I can see from first glance we’re using the same clock speed, but my memory speed is slower at 1150. I’ll see if bumping this higher has any effect. I hear lower saves power and heat, but too slow will cause slow downs of course.
