Hi, I started to invest alot of time into feather coin mining with my gaming computer. Recently, I received blue screen when I’m only playing games such as battlefield 4 or league of legends. This does not occur when my computer is mining or at idle. Is this the after effects of mining or did I somehow damaged my computer? Any thoughts?

Sorry making a short post, currently on my tablet.

Could be a lot of things. Drivers up to date? Card getting hot? Mining shouldn’t have too many adverse effects as long as things are kept in check. Its when you start pushing things to hard or let parts get too hot.

I run my GPUs hard, like intensity 17 or 18 when I’m in bed or away, and around intensity 12-13 when doing miscellaneous internet stuff or playing World of Warcraft, and intensity 8 or completely off when playing StarCraft 2.

Sounds more like a random problem with drivers or Mem/disk.
Havent had any such issues with my cards.

I use coretemp and MSI Afterburner to monitor my cpu and gpu temps. I recommend watching the temps while mining and while gaming to see if you notice what/where the issue is. I have 3x HD6970 that I have been mining/gaming with for actually three years today and have never had any problems going from gaming to mining or vice versa, even immediately one after the other. I would suggest using compressed air to remove any dust build up in the card and PSU, also noting the temps before and after you clean them. Good luck! Oh yeah, a quick afterthought, try the program https://www.slimwareutilities.com/slimdrivers.php to verify all your drivers are up to date.

not saying its wrong but i wouldnt recommend running any mining while you’re in a game. I know bf4 is really picky with their drivers

Update: Today, I did some hardware testing. I’m still not sure what’s giving me the blue screen. It’s not a big deal because I’ll be purchasing my friend’s HD 7970 around $200 to make my new semi mining rig.

CPU: Pass (3 hours Prime 95)
GPU: Pass (1 four furmark)
Hard Drive: Pass (WD test software)
RAM: Not Tested

I went to window’s event log. The “source” of it is the kernal power that’s causing the blue screen. I highly doubt that’s my power supply’s fault because I have cx 500 v3 80+ bronze. Any ways, I’ll also post my computer specs.

CPU: Phenom ii X4 955 @ stock
GPU: HD 7870 GHZ edition @ factory OC
HDD: WD BW 1TB 7200RPM
PSU: CX 500 v3 80+ bronze
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P

PS: Mining 13 hours/day @ I-19 without blue screen. Plays BF4/Pokemon/LoL/BF3, instant crash and blue screens. LOL!

That do sound like a bad PSU, i had the same error on an earlier pc. and it was the PSU that was the problem.
After replacing the PSU the fault went away for me at least. had an OCZ 700W psu on 1x GTX670 at the time.

Update: I’m back from replacing the PSU! I don’t think it’s my PSU’s fault. Replaced it with my backup XFX 550W core edition. When I was playing BF3 and LoL, the driver keeps crashing and recovering, making it almost unplayable. I guess something is wrong with my GPU. But, that doesn’t matter! I’ll slap this thing on my mining rig and let it run 24/7!
