twitter accounts can get hacked
Isn’t this the case on everything on the webs?
Yep. With a system like this, your bitcoins are as secure as your twitter account. There’s really no way of changing that, or providing an extra layer of security: If you can authenticate as the user, you can authorize the transaction.

It’s a non-issue as far as I’m concerned. If your twitter gets hacked and you didn’t claim your bitcoins, it’s no different than your wallet getting hacked. Does this mean you shouldn’t rely on this as your primary wallet? Yep. Does it mean we shouldn’t build it for fear people do stupid shit with it and lose their coins? No way.

We’ll kickstart it in January after Link is running smoothly.

Well all I’m saying is maybe using phone verification for every transaction such as an sms with a pin code or something?
Two factor authentication? Does Twitter have that built in as an option by default?

Sure you could add 2fa to the site itself. It wouldn’t stop a first time receiver from being hacked.

Well I looked into the twitter API today. The API supports streaming for a topic. So it’s trivial to listen for specific mentions.

That makes this really easy to do.

Let’s get Link finished, then we’ll get this underway.

This is an excellent idea! Think of all the publicity this would add to FTC, other than being really handy and functional.

I just came across this post, I have been working on a project for this. I have been testing the past few days and it seems to be working as expected. All I need to do now is create the interface and push it out to my server. I am hoping to have it out tonight or by the end of tomorrow. I cannot design, so I am just using a basic UI. Should not take me long.

Sounds exciting! Let us know :)
