This may seem odd, but I need a way to lower my hashrate. Here’s the thing, I have my 2x X9 R280 rig in my home office, my sister is going to live with my family for few months while her house is being renovated and my home office is going to double as her bedroom. So, my rig is quite loud running fans 65% power and hashrate of 720kh/s.

I’m not gona jump around and strart mining when she leaves for work and stop mining when she goes to sleep. It would be easier to drop my hashrate enough so I need to run my fans only at ~40% and then it will be quiet enough for 24/7 mining.

but how to drop hashrate for less heat? undervoltin? clock speed?

      Thanks

Would not a better idea be to move the rig ?

Beside that the only way i know is to use CG watcher activate remote control and do it that way.

          Hey,

Just lower the GPU-Clock and Mem. Would recommend something like 975 clock and 1250 Mem.

          Regards,

            I’ll try those settings, thanks!

If your using the catalyst software I would look at the auto tuning and play with the frequencies in there and lower them. Otherwise just picking and choosing will leave you in an inoperable state. Would require you booting into safe mode and fixing them. You could also drop the intensity of the miner some and it shouldn’t push the card too hard to where the fan is always on. You will get a lower hashrate as a result. If you’re not using -I / --intensity you can manually set one that is lower and find what works best for you. :)

                Simply lower the intensity?

That said, I’d just move the machine. Wouldn’t want to sleep in the same room as one, even if it is quiet.

Simple is beautiful, thanks! Gpu clock 1050mhz, memory clock 6100mhz and intensity 12 landed me at 550khs per card with 43% fans and 61C core temps! Quiet enough to sleep with, but I think I’ll move it to livingroom tho (wife didnt want it to our bedroom) :)

Thanks Kevlar, my first rep ;)

OP, glad you’ve found a solution. Double as good little space heaters at this time of year too. My cellar is the warmest room in the house. lol
