My miner runs great with 2 gpus installed. I turn off the system to install a 3rd or 4th and doesnt work properly. The 3rd and 4th gpus are in a 4x slot with a 4x to 16x riser. Should these risers be powered?

Also, Im only getting about 510-520 kh/s per card.

I have a 990FXA-UD3 mobo with 4 x MSi R7950 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127737)

Need help on getting this 3rd and 4th card working. Also, is 510-520 normal kh/s for these cards?

What’s the rest of your setup? PSU , Ram , CPU cooling etc. Also, what CGminer settings do you use?

I am running some 7950’s @ 580 - 600 k/hash each.

thread-concurrency 21712 -I 18

in MSI afterburner
+20% power limit
coreclock 1030
mem clock 1466

And about the risers is mainly to releave the mobo with power use.
You may want to use powered risers if you don’t want burned mobo connectors.

Try powered risers. up to x8 Slots have a max power of 25W (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#Power) - The GPUs may want to leech 75W (x16).

Ok, I finally got my powered risers! Everything seems to be working except for when it is about to go to the windows log-in screen. 1 time with all 4 GPUs plugged in, right before the log-in screen the monitor switched over and everything worked for about 5 minutes. Everything works fine in safe mode.

Right when it goes to the Windows log-in screen the screen stays black but is still powered on?

Do I need dummy plugs? If so Ill go get them ASAP!

Thanks for all the help

Ok, i just unplugged each GPU 1 by 1 with restarts in between and the computer screen didnt work until I was down to the one hooked up to the monitor. I plugged one back in the a dummy plug installed and it is mining again…

I think I need more dummy plugs for the other 2 to work as well… any thoughts?

If your going to use Windoz then the chances are your going to need dummy plugs, there is also a possibility that you need to make BIOS changes, or even add PCIe shorts

Have a quick read of

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=102547.0 and this http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php/topic,7148.msg54623.html#msg54623

Also give a thought to BAMT, it only takes 1/2 an hour to build it onto a USB key and then you have a different O/S to try, if you get stuck shout up and I will see what I can do to help you out.

Ok I rigged up some dummy plugs now I got 3 to work at the same time… The fourth dummy plug I think is messed up because when I slide the resistors in they dont fit as snug as the others. I think I need a new plug… Will post back to let ya’ll know…
