      Hi Guys,

Just a very quick question, what hashing algorithm does Quark coin use? I guess it is not Scrypt?

      Regards,
      Stefan

        It’s a mess.

It’s a bunch of different hashing algos piped together in a chain, so the output of one is the input of the next.

This has the effect of making it high specialized, and therefore ASIC resistant. That means that it will be some time before ASICs are produced for it, if ever, meaning it’s potential market cap is VERY VERY limited when compared to other coins that use Scrypt.

Thanks Kevlar, I was just trying to work out why a given rig might generate a claimed 600KH/s when mining Quark but only a verified 45KH/s when mining scrypt, and I figured it was down to a different algorithm, never guessed it was a whole bunch of algorithms chained.

Did I mention it was insta-mined crap?

50% of the currency was mined in the first month. It will take 100 years for the currency supply to expand by 50%. Coins that do this have a very limited market cap potential.
