Current scrypt mining ROI is about 3 months for new rigs. Not taking into account difficulty increase. If you go in it for the long term it’s a gamble with big risks and huge potential gains. For more info Google it or provide some input parameters.

You should be able to get a better idea of ROI by using one of the calculators

        but essentially -

Take your initial cost of buying all your mining gear. say (£300)

work out how many coins you will mine per day (you should get a general idea from what hash you expect from each Graphics card etc) -e.g. 15 coins
multiply the amount of coins by the current value (its been stable at around 19p per coin for a while but that can always change) -e.g. (15 coins * 19p) = £2.85 per day
minus the cost of electricity per day (using a electric meter is a good start) -e.g 80p

        so profit per day is (£2.85 - £0.80) = £2.05

        so it will take (£300 / £2.05) = 146.3 days

Obviously these numbers are just made up but you get the idea.
BUT (If the value of the coins goes up - Which is fairly likely - then your wait will decrease a lot)
BUT (If the difficulty of mining goes up - Which is fairly likely as well - then your wait will increase a lot)

essentially after ROI in the above scenario you are buying 15 FTC coins for 80p per day when they are actually worth £2.85
