I was wondering if it’s possible to mine both Litecoin and Feathercoin from the same computer without messing anything up? Obviously not at the same time of course.

If so, Do you run 2 different versions on cgminer?

Yes, other then connection settings (pool, daemon), basically all the settings will remain the same.

One word of caution, though I highly suggest CGminer, it has one quirk you need to be aware of if mining different coins. If you have two pools in the same configuration file that are mining two different coins, that can get messed up. One of the features of CGminer is the ability to grab long polls from pools in the configuration that you are not mining on at the moment. This is helpful if you switch between solo and pool mining as you can use a pools long poll to benefit your solo mining.

However, if they are two different chains (coins), you would be receiving a long poll from the wrong chain, and not getting long polls from the chain you are mining.

SO, keep a configuration file for each of the coins you are mining, other then pools/solo setup, the hardware setup will remain the same for scrypt coins(LTC,FTC,NVC). SHA256 coins (BTC,PPC,TRC,FRC,BTE) will have different (but the same as a group) hardware settings.

        Clear as mud? :P

I really need to get the alt-coin tech wikki up and running.
