I too am very interested to know why anyone would be interested in short term pump and dumps based on speculation and bullshit, and ruining the investment of FTC holders who bought the coin knowing it was a scrypt coin, when sustainable ASIC powered price growth is just around the corner. This makes no sense to me.
I guess the pump and dumpers win that way? It’s the only benefit I can see.

There are a lot of open source crypto related services & a lot of knowledge from all of the crypto currencies, so if they use them and apply in the right way def. they will be a very big player in the crypto world. So far they are going extremely well! ( pools are protecting themselves from 51% rumors, diff. re targeting, small supply on the market, good PR around the web, …)

These new coins are only good for a huge risky profit when its first launched, afterwards its dump dump and dump. -
I really like this conversation, however, and remember “Junior Member” is next to my name, I’m just not hearing sound arguments either way.
Every coin can be pumped and dumped with the right collusion, and just because a coin has a completely new Algo, does that really change the adoption rate of businesses, or those form other coins?
With VertCoin, MaxCoin, Nxt, Ripple, etc., etc., I think we are reaching the widest point on the funnel of innovation, and soon a market consolidation could occur. Who needs to adapt, who needs to stay their course, and what does that mean for us?

I’ve done some research and asked some tough questions. Made a huge effort to try understand how everything works in regards to markets and algo’s…
Ftc is in a good place. Changing our algo at this given point in time would cause more grief than good.
My vote still stands with dealing with ACP before even looking at any other change of that scale.

VertCoin’s N factor addition is pretty good in terms of being ASIC resistant…but it’s too ASIC resistant. When the work size get above 512 bits, (around 2017 apparently) its going to become a bot net coin, and popularity will fall. It’s doomed to fail! (Provided of course GPU’s arent 1024 bit bus width by then).
